I was out entertaining a couple of clients last night, on the recommendation of a friend I booked Veeraswamy on Regent Street. I also took on board his suggestion to turn the usual English tradition of 'get pissed then eat curry' on its head and 'eat curry then get pissed'.

So after a swift couple of pints in the Nags Head on James street we rocked up at the allotted time to be greeted by some fella in full traditional costume who checked our names and reservation before escorting us to the lift. When the lift doors opened again we where meet and addressed by our names and taken to our table. Almost every table was full and mostly with Asian or Arabic people which is always a good indication of what's to come.

This place has been serving Indian food in London since 1926 and it showed. The atmosphere and ambiance of the place was excellent but nothing compared to the service and food both of which was faultless. Ok, its on the pricey side but if you want something a bit special to impress someone or are entertaining I would fully recommend it as an excellent choice.

I have eaten at both Moti Mahal near Covent Garden and the Cinnamon Club in Westminster a number of times but Veeraswamy knocks both into a cocked turban.

Then, we went and got pissed.

Better still, this morning I didn't spend an hour biting the back of my hand whilst sat on the pan.

    Haha, great review!

Being a Londoner myself I will check this place out. I love a decent ruby. I took the missus to Banares last year, its up there with the best ruby I've had. Another cracker is Gymkhana. Again, epic food. And both great for taking clients to or a little treat.

    Veeraswamy - I'll have a go!

Thanks for your recommendations Bash, I am always looking for new places to entertain. If you like something a bit different rather then the normal and willing to take a risk on something you haven't tried before I would really recommend giving it a go.

Did you take the "train journey" or just go for the normal menu.
