I have been on the look out for some wheels, on checking evilbay i have come across what looks like 12+ replica wheels from china, here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181697980670?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT What are your views/experiences of chinese copy wheels? I dont mind cheap plastic bits or HDMI cables etc for pennys from china but what about something like this? I would hate to have one snap in half for no apparent reason! or do they have guidlines to follow in the quality of work like we do over here? worth a punt or not worth the risk?
I personally wouldn't buy any Chinese stuff that could potentially put your life in danger. Imagine going down the track at 180mph and one of the wheels fails in some way! No thanks
Keep looking myself... heard folk mention they don't balance up very well, says a lot about the build quality. Keep stopping myself from buying them lol
I wouldn't touch em with a barge pole quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, trouble is there is a real chance you might not be around long to remember the price!
I think I will just pay the the extra £200 or so and get some real ones then I don't need them until next spring I'm sure some will pop up at some point
Think Performance bikes or Fast bikes magazines did a comparison a few months ago, worth doing a search
Never chinese wheels ........ a guy broke its rear wheel on a " vibreur " ( don't know the word in english sorry ) during my last track day ....
Yeah I bought that issue. Was quite an interesting article. The Chinese wheels passed all of the tests that they put them through. Even surpassing the OEM Japanese ones on one test, if I recall correctly. That having been said, I wouldn't try to save money on anything as fundamental as wheels, personally. I'd rather give the blingy bits and bobs a miss and spend the moolah on top notch wheels, tyres and brakes.
