knock sensor

    does the 2015 blade have knock sensor

    i have a new blade and was reading somewhere if the bike does not have knock sensor it is not good to use higher octane than 95

    i used to use on my old civic higher octane and could clearly see how clean the engine got after few months of usage

    the artickle basicly was saying no knock sensor no high octane

    Knock sensors are defo fitted on the current gen blade 08+ (not sure about previous gens but most likely!).

    The sensor sits under the tank on the engine with a blue connector fitted, located to the right of the thermostat housing and below the upper injectors 3&4.

    There is quite a few variables that can cause knocking or pinking within the engine.

    Most bikes will tell you in the user manual what the minimum fuel octane the engines setup to run, most are setup to run minimum of 95 Ron here in European countries and think it's 91 for the US bikes due to different fuel quality and additives.

    The bike makes use of the knock sensor and other to determine if the bikes ignition is within optimal range and it automatically can alter the spark timing to try and compensate to give better ignition optimisation.

    Older engines in cars for eg. had to have the spark timing adjusted by rotating the distributer to allow for fuel changes from leaded to unleaded being biggest change. (Leaving out the issues with valve seat upgrades and such to deal with the extra heat and missing lead which helped lubricate the valve seats.

    But still safe to use higher octane fuel tho:)
