what is the idling speed ? mine is about 1250rpm is that to quick ?,i started up the bike put my helmet and gloves on,it's showing 108 degree's.is that normal in such a short time, bare in mind this is my 1st honda,it's all new to me,...mal
108 Fahrenheit is just over 40 Celsius, about the temp that the display first registers from cold, so it's looking like that's the issue.
This summer when I was stuck in traffic mine came in at 105. Which is a bit later than my rrw used to kick in at.
had mine top out at 110 but that was in 35 degree heat in Spain, mines normally mid to high 80's when running. So 108 is high
Standing still it will hit 100 odd , Mine always gets just over 100 in traffic Soon as the air is blasting through the rad it should be 70 to 80 ish ,, well thats what mine does anyway
Mal. Tickover should be 1200 plus or minus 100. If your dash is set to Fahrenheit it will show 108 from virtually cold.
Is your choke still turned on at that temp? My choke completly turns off at 48 degrees c which is just over 108 degrees F
There was a good read on this subject in the MCN by Kevin Ash its a while ago and he was sort of saying that there are two trains of thought (1) it may be harmful to the engine to start up and leave running up to temp and the other it may be better to start and go ? me i start it and when the engine note changes off i go and take it easy for about half a mile .but there are some good tech dudes on here so What should we do?
Dunno lol. I open me garage, push it out, start the bike, close garage, put lid on, put gloves on, get on and ride off.
I like to let the Ecu back off the revs before I put it into gear else it sounds like Arthur's shooting at me. I've never worked out whether that's a good or bad thing either.
Recommended tickover speed is 1100 +/-100. The fan kicks in at 103-105 depending on the water level in the expansion tank. The 04-05 blades have a bigger rad than the 06-07 and are not interchangle. These rads get blocked easily maybe due to the front mudguard not being able to divert all the crap from the front wheel. My rad was blocked temp rose dramatically to 112 had to remove the rad soak the vertical line what looked like tar and then pressure wash the rad from a distance, thankfully no damage.
Its set to Farenheit, master blaster is right, 1100 is normal, however, if your a wee bit fast on road or track and you havent got a slipper clutch, try ramping it up to around 2500, helps with rear wheel lock up on downchanges....
