Bought a high lift screen for my 2011 blade. Having looked at the manual and viewed the screen in place the 2 screws on each side can come out easily but what about the two grommets by the instrument clocks? Are these just locating lugs that pop/push out or do I need multi knuckled fingers to pull them out or a tool or something? They seem to have a small tab/lug on each of them. Any help apreciated
Don't force the screen as you'll snap the stubs off. Mine are snapped. I think you have to remove the clocks (sure someone will confirm this or not) and transfer the rubber well nuts from the old screen to the new one.
Guessing the same as a 09.. They are little pointy tabs..the screen pulls downwards out of it..I found it a pain to get the screen on. Just make sure you do it in day light..I broke one of them trying to get the screen on (off was not an issue) I gently pushed down on the front once the 4 screws were off. I did not see a way of removing the clocks.
A pain of a job which I did last month. You need to push those two rubber grommets out - lots of Fairy liquid is your friend here. I too broke the red tabs off the sides of the fairing in the process but it's made no difference to the security of the new screen. Good luck, mate.
No need to remove clocks. Remove mirrors and support them as wires will still be intact. This will allow for more room to access the screen lugs. This worked for me anyway.
As Steve said remove the mirrors this allows a bit more play in the fairing allowing you to get the screen in position easier
Many thanks for all the advice - I'll be effing and jeffin this weekend with fairy liquid and a blow torch then - will update the thread.
+1 with the warming thing, if you can't heat the garage get a fan heater on and thoroughly warm the whole screen and fairing, its Vital. Mike.
10 mins to swap the screen. Its easier relocating the rubber grommets by putting the bolt throught the fairing and into the grommet and then pushing. Use fairly liquid or any other soap based product to lubricate, don't use oil near the screen, especially if its a dark screen.
