Best way to repair a mark on carbon fibre

    hi, I has a scratch on my akrapovic sprocket cover and was wondering if anyone new what was best to use on it

    Could try wet and drying it - probably best to do the whole piece - then spray 2 or 3 coats of clear coat lacquer.

    400 wet and dry then 1000 then a few good coats of lacquer in the sun or warm garage.

    A lot of those scratches looked like they would have just polished out.

    But redoing the lacquer does give more UV protection tho.

    If it's a big piece of carbon fibre that's got chip damage in it acrylic nail polish can be used to build up the layers till the chips at same height as normal and a quick wet and dry and polish up will see it looking like new as well.

    The acrylic nail polish does not interact and damage the bonding on the fibres which the chemicals in lacquers can do if the top layer is damaged through to carbon matting!

    Yeah, well, I'm not a pro, I'm what you'd call an enthusiast........or bodger! :)

    I know a bit about most things but not a lot about anything! :D
