Oh it is involved alright . Way harder than installing a PCV I had to download the installation guide for a fireblade This is how i got on Bike ready for install , I removed the tank as there is 25 connectors to plug in under there lol The PCV only intercepts injectors 1 and 4 and a big black connector under the lower injector rail ( i forget what it is ) PCV disconnected Off the bike and looking mint as daunting as all the connectors look on the Bazzaz Z-FI , the hardest part is threading them all trough the small hole between the tail area and the battery tray . Very bloody fiddley !! lol Then came the connecting lol . As the Bazzaz has been in use for a few months the loom had bends in it from the previous install so it all lined up very well . Iv threaded the wiring throu the bike for the Z-AFM ( auto tune ) , i just have to put the sensor in and then I'm ready to wipe the current map . Install the bazzaz base map and she will be ready for Dyno time Ill get some more pics up when i finish the install this evening
Thats a whole load of wires there mate, well done on squeezing it all in, does the tank still go down ok with the top injectors fitted ? it will be good to see what results you get from the dyno. ?? Stupid question time but with the auto tune, why do you need to get it mapped, does it not do that all the time as you ride ?? And Merry Christmas Dan, hope you and the lad have a great day
Cheers mate . Having a great day , Hope your having the same. Im still researching the best method of running the auto tune . You don't have all the pre made maps with bazzaz like you do with Dynojet. You just have a CBR1000RR Slip on map and you either get it set up on dyno or run the auto tune. From what i understand the auto tune does not make changes as you ride , it records data and you plug into your computer and it makes suggestions which you can either apply or manually adjust to what your looking for , for beginner tuners you can apply then click a smooth button which smoothes the fuel curve out for you I have been advised to also run it on a Dyno and get a base map made as you can set target Fuel ratios and the auto tune then makes suggestions for you to get your target Fuel ratio . Or something like that anyway lol People are saying its a good idea to get it dyno'd also to make sure it is running correct before i go out and damage my engine . This is why I'm hanging on to my PCV till then just incase it is not 100% correct and i have to revert back . Im going to go out and finsh it all off after Crimbo dinner so ill post up some more pics then
Even with PCV auto tune it stills needs Dyno time, JT's & BSD told me it needs min to max revs in each gear to initialise.
IT WAS ALL GOING TO SMOOTHLY !! LOL As Arthur warned me ,, The F-ing bloody T**T F**King Sensor for the self tune is massively to big .. The seller may have had the same bike and exhaust as me but he must have filled and welded on an extra boss and conveniently failed to warn me of this. Now its decision time ... Pull it all off , refit the PCV and sell on the Bazzaz ?? Or sort the Bazzaz out ?? I can order the boss that needs to be welded to my exhaust from Bazzaz , Its a bit to fine of a job for my welding skills so ill have to get it done locally . I don't really want to have 2 lambda holes in my exhaust but ill have to incase i ever want to sell it . If i ever upgrade to a full system i will have to order another boss and get the new system drilled and welded . My power commander is starting to look a better option . If it was a Bazzaz with QuickShifter and Traction control then the extra efforts would be worth it but just to have all 8 injectors intercepted ( Arthur says not worth it on a road bike anyway ) and the possibility of being able to plug into my laptop and tweak the fuel map , Im not sure is worth it . What would you guys do ???
Ahh i see , stand alone unit . Just the traction control that cant be added then . Just gotta decide if i keep the Bazzaz or the Power Commander now
Gutted mate, thought that would be the case.... Dont bother with the bazzaz shifter mate its naff! HM is the ONLY one! And as for 8 injectors mate see the link I posted its been tested on stock-ish motors the proof is in the links you only need to map the lowers on stock motors, you would need one nice motor to NEED to map the uppers, also with Dynojets SFM you can map the uppers and lowers individually and for each gear, propper contol of the fuel system.
The Dynojet set up is way more user friendly . Support and technical help on Bazzaz's web site is rubbish . There is just nothing making me think its worth while going to the hassle of getting the Bazzaz fitted . If i didn't have a power commander sitting here ready to bolt on and ride i would get the Bazzaz on but comparing the 2 i think Dynojet is winning me over Do you still deal with the HM shifters Arthur ?
Yes mate anytime you want one just pm me but do shop around mate as there are some good deals about, I did have one on the shelf but somehow it mophed its self into a Ducati model and fitted its self to my 848...lol
