Quick one...i bought a bike, before i made payment i had let the dealer know what to put on the reg document. (company name) (this was done over the phone and on email) He has registered the bike to me without the company name Sent an email stating this is wrong and will not work, and he said i need to contact the dvla to get this changed and it will add another owner to the bike! Is it just me, or is this not acceptable? I have sent an email stating he made the error and he needs to fix - where do i stand on this? as if this can not be sorted, i will have to return the bike - am i within my rights
unless you have it in writing and not a verble suggestion I doubt you will get any where, but if you have it on email your in your right ,as for the dvla you will have to bite bullet Sam as for how many owners that ain't a big issue ,was it to claim the vat back if so get the decker to reimburse you the vat ,typical dealer want the sale but anything else they don't give a toss
I wouldn't. IIRC VAT is only claimable on a car if it's a taxi... And not at all for a bike (I checked with my accountant last time ) Not that I'd mind seeing a fire blade taxi... But I think it unlikely... H
You can get the VAT back on a bike I think http://www.krwaccountants.co.uk/item/company-motorcycles-a-tax-efficient-company-benefit.html
Yep got it on email, also recorded conversations. As it went through the books its a company owned asset - and must have its name on the doc. I will pick up the phone to the sales manager tomorrow to see what he can do.. They should be able to rectify there registration mistake. I'm hoping so.
They may be able to deregister it, for certain reasons and then redo, worth asking, it will be a pain for them to sort but worth checking with dvlc
Once its registered its only the registered owner that can change the V5. That said, all you really need to be able to do is show that it was paid for by your company, and not you personally. Mind ewe, sounds like you have changed your mind, or the missus has found out and now you are trying to get out of it ! - where is the 's on here!
Naa..not changed my mind.. If the company gets an audit and needs to produce the documents..the company name must be present..that's the way it was explained to me.. Want it sorted..one way or another. Spent too much time and effort in finding and getting the bike to me
AFAIK the v5 doesn't tell you the 'owner' just the keeper. Are you 100% sure you need to change it? The company can own it while you're the keeper. Easier for me since my company name is also my name.
thats thats what i was thinking too..the reg document does not mean you are the owner.. will look into this more.. thanks

Pretty much saying the name on the v5 is the reg keeper but the vehicle could be owned by finance company!
One of my bikes has it a box of history, and there is extensive documentation, where the dealer mistakenly registered to themselves as the 1st owner, and not the buyer, after that the bike was reregistered the same day to the owner, and appears as the second owner. The doc trail shows the dealer almost begging DVLA to rectify this error, legal letters from the owner, and they basically stuck 2 fingers up and told them to take a hike. History shows cash changed hands between dealer and purchaser by way of compensation.
Spoke to the manager.. He said to send the log book off, change the first name to business and surname to my surname.. I don't this will work! He said he don't know but its the only option.. Other then adding a new owner..and me change it!
i have had this, but with my mobile. I rang virgin to put my company name on it, it was difficult. in the end it reads my name company name my address perhaps this may work as a change of address as its 'missed the business name'?
