I have Garmin LM390, telferizer mount and Senna Bluetooth headset. Whole lot cost me £400, but worth every penny. I'm rubbish at knowing my way so I rely upon it. No wrong turns over a 3000 miles trip through Alps to Italy and Slovenia a few months ago alone. I couldn't have done that without a satnav. It's was to use and simple to plan exact routes on your pc beforehand and download. Tom Tom probably just as good too, but I am more familiar with Garmin from using in my car.
I use a zumo 550, had it since they came out, a garmin 2820 (?) before that and a garmin gps5 before that. I wouldn't go away without one but it's good to turn them off and just get lost sometime. I've got a telferizer if you're interested.
I use the same mounting on my tomtom. I have an active mount which charges my sat nav as soon as I clip it in the mount. It connects via Bluetooth to my phone and helmet so I can take incoming calls. I have the Ryder 2 so it's not new and I've had it a few yrs as well. It's makes life so much easier and I wouldn't be with out it.
Not sure which one to get yet so many different ones to choose from .think I'm going to have a look at the bike show as well before I get lost ha
Garmin or TomTom and you won't go wrong. Attach to a stem mount as above and you're sorted. Sure you'll get a great deal at bike show too - try for a deal with an intercom at the same time...
I've already got starcom digital fitted on the bike use it with the wife I think it would be easy to get a sat nav that will work with it .not tried one with the intercoms before
I think you have to buy an attachment that plugs in to the starcom to make it Bluetooth but that's great if the sat navs are compatible makes life easier thanks for the reply appreciate it
TomTom app on your phone and pair it with a bluetooth headset (or wired pancake speakers). Pluses. It downloads the maps, so you don't need mobile data = seamless navigation. No dead spots You can use mobile data to get live traffic updates if you want and it'll re-route you to a quicker route automatically (or by prompt) You don't need to mount it on the bike. It can talk you to your destination from your pocket. You always have it with you (entertaining to watch it try to put you on a road when you're doing 500mph in a plane ) If you have music on your phone (or spotify) then you can practise your singing at the same time Negatives. Using GPS, TomTom and Bluetooth all together will eat the battery. I have a USB charging port in the tail unit (spliced into my numberplate illumination wiring) so if I've been out for 1/2 the day then I can bung the phone in there to top it up for the ride home. I keep a usb wire poked through a zip-lock baggy so the phone stays dry in the baggy even if it's raining. We used the mobile TomTom with an AT&T mobile SIM when we drove down the pacific coast roads in western USA earlier this year. Turns out it was a godsend as most of the time there was no mobile signal, but it kept us in the right direction Wallet, mobile, house keys
I have that...got me a £40 galaxy S5 case as well...I preferred the iPhone case as it is smaller.. Not really used mine yet..but see it getting in the way of the ignition barrel.. I have a ram mount for sale..it can screw into other places such as handle bar Mount... Check the for sale section..
