Safety mate, don't think many can argue that you can buy a better protected boot.

The inners and outa's can be changed if damaged and also come with massive warranty.

They were (and possibly still are) the boots that top racers bought if they weren't being paid to wear another brand.
They are a bit bulky and I've found that I need to adjust the gear lever when I wear mine, they are also not "all day comfortable" off the bike due to the metal insert along the sole.
But if you want safety they take some beating.
These are for sale: Daytona evo gtx (goretex) size 9. £200 inc p& p image.jpeg

    Cool thanks ..

    I'm a 41..

But really was after comfort / protection...

Would you say all Daytona boots are not good to have on all day? Even when not riding?

Should I look to settle for smx 6 goretex maybe?

Just look at the reviews and you can see why they are popular. I want a set but as I don't need a 3rd set it seems daft to fork out more cash

but they are on my to get list one day

Go for A* supertech R comfortable like a pair of slippers, great feel on the bike and good protection.
    Not goretex though.
    Buy some sealzkin socks :)

I have smx plus - got them cheap when hein gerick went under...nice boots

Did not take long for them to start squeaking..also they are a pain to put on and off.

would the supertech R be that different?

also thinking the datona can pass as normal boots and not stick out near the shinn area?

    No squeaking at all
My wife has the smx and the supertech do appear to be easier to put on. Leather appears softer and zip runs better. Only try them on if you want to buy them because every other boot after will feel less supple and comfortable.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361270051...49&var=630739243683&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Just purchased a pair of Strive GTX from Germany, full leather and Goretex, only had them for a few weeks but so far faultless. Used in the torrential rain on the outside of my leather jeans and didn't let in a drop.
    Good grip and zero squeak

Wanted a pair of Evo Sports GTX but a little salty, also the dual boot thing before every commute would feck me off very quickly

Got them in 41 probably a size bigger than a AlpineStars 41 but just put in some insoles - well comfy!!

Have had in the past SMX plus and Dainese Torque Pro Out Race, great boots too ,but on a day to day commute they just fall apart.

The Strives have a better level of protection than normal commuting boots (deffo not in the league of out and out race protection) but because of this I hope they will last a lot longer.

Noticeably warmer than my previous boots, may be a little toasty for summer.

Next purchase would be Rukka textiles, a Schubert S2 and perhaps a Bimmer RT:p

Great boots had mine for years and still look good as new. Quite right about them not being "all day comfy" if I need that I'll wear my Sidi's but for protection can't beat the Daytonas.

Those ones you pictured Sam are the ones below the Security Evo, they have a plastic type inner boot while the Security Evo is Carbon/Kevlar.
I had the Evo's and they were super comfortable and easier to put on than the AS Supertech R's I have now, should have kept them !

The goretex in Evo sports is actually in the inner boot, the outer is just water resistant. IMO a bit of a strange design

fucked boot1.jpg i went from a/stars to daytonas this yr,mainly because i got them cheap.(brand new for less than a/stars)

they feel a bit more bulky, but once worn in are very comfy, maybe not quite as comfy as a/stars but have no problem wearing/walking in them all day.they feel far more substantial than other boot i've had,no clutter to get caught in rearsets etc.

this is a picture of a a/star i crashed in,foot got caught under bike and burnt a hole in the top of my foot, this wouldn't happen with daytonas, not because they have protection there, but because they are made of kangaroo,so wouldn't have burnt through.

so,for me,i wouldn't pay the 8-1300 quid asking price, but if you can get them cheaper, then wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if needed.

Wow...ooookay..I guess I did not image that...mind you..I think differently about short ankle boots having broken my leg last year...

Are all Daytona boots made of kangaroo? As I think I may opt for gtx?
