I am having my left big toe nail removed on Monday and am worried about how long before I can ride my bike. Changing gear etc. Anybody on here had this done? I ride a bike to work every day so it will be a problem.
agree. you will prob end up with a big swelling for a while which will makeputting on any shoe difficult. I would say if you can get the boot on, then you will manage changing gears
As it happens I dropped a railway sleeper on my left big toe in April, toe nail has nearly grown back now. Went out on my bike the day after just changed gear with the top of my foot rather than my toes oh and a handful of pain killers. You will be fine
Thanks for the reply, That must of hurt, I have had a infection in my foot for over a year that has spread to under my toe nail and it has been painful to change gear all year, have considered a VFR 1200 auto clutch but have stuck to the blade, so I hopes this gets sorted now.
Think it's different if it's being removed cos they have to pull the skin where nail used to be, my mate had a huge dressing on his foot
Had mine removed twice as I'm a 'Freak of Nature' apparently! First time was due to a football injury and they cut back 15mm behind the base of the nail so they can remove the Nail bed. It still grew back despite them saying it was impossible. Got done a second time and it grew back again, still got it today but it's far from smooth, looks more like when the Sea freezes over! Taint to painful if U aint a Girl n all!

Had a strip of nail removed from the side of each big toe when I was about 14. Was off school for a week but was fine after about 3 days, so a week should be good.
