Does anyone have an idiots guide to assist me with replacing the rear brake light pressure switch. I have installed R and G rearsets and bought a banjo switch to replace the stock switch but have no idea on how to fit it. I have been offered free installation from my dealer but it's something I've decided I want to have a go at myself.

    I the C-ABS 2011 blade

    Thanks in anticipation

    Mick

    Simples ..... ;)

The banjo brake switch has 2 wires coming from it .... these need to be spliced/joined to the original wires that were on the brake lever switch that you removed to fit the R&G's

Thats it ... of course it would be nice to solder the wires and cover with heat shrink tubing to make it all nice and neat .

But before soldering .. slide the shrink tubing on the wires and up away from the soldering iron .

Thanks Nuts, but what happens with the metal bolt type part that contains the membrane - looks like it should be screwed in somewhere?

That goes into the master cylinder through the brake pipe . Pop around to mine and you can take a look at the one I did earlier :)

Bring the bits and we can fit it in half an hour

Fitting the switch is not the problem , Its Bleeding the brakes that is the fun part :)

Thanks Guys! I didn't realise the brakes needed to be bled - thought it was solely a wiring job (that illustrates the level of my mechanical knowledge)

Nuts - I may take you up on that offer, be a good excuse to get a look at that bike of yours! I will PM you.

Why do you use fully synthetic?

Well Benn .. as its not hygroscopic it has an extremely long working life
Plus it does not damage paintwork
Plus its a funky purple colour :) (as Dan just said)

I agree Benn that's why I buy it (no sarcasm intended)

Once I had a petrol tank that had been affected by brake fluid down to the metal
Had it touched up .. didn't take .. touched up again .. didn't take .. had it fully stripped
down and repainted .. and it still had a mark that was obvious .
Moral of the story don't spill yur brake fluid on ya petrol tank OR buy synthetic

I was wrongly under the impression you should only use synthetic for race bikes and it needed changing regularly.

When you say that about your tank NT £26 is a bargain in hind sight!

And you need to get rid of every drop of normal brake fluid before you replace it with Dot 5 !

Have fun on the ABS, bleeding is just the same as any other model, but you will need to RTFM to be sure you know where the bleeders are, it can take a while longer than normal as the extra pipe work.. My advice would be use normal brake fluid Honda use Castrol DOT4.. :)
