    Hi guys

Just thinking over some forum events for 2012 .

I think a charity fund raiser would be a great coming together of the forum members and a lovely thing to do to not only benefit a worth while charity but also to get some good publicity for the Forum .

    Im thinking

*Large show cheque to present to the charity

*Forum meet and ride to the charity head office

Obviously 1 central meet is hard as even central uk is still a long way for some members to travel so would regional presentations be an idea ??

If we agree on a charity , agree on a type of fundraiser , split the raised amount into 4 or 5 cheques and then arrange rides for the same date where our different groups would meet up and ride to charity shops / offices of the chosen charity and present the cheques .

Doing out that way we could get local news papers to come and get a pic of us handing over the funds and we may even get a larger newspaper do a story on us raising funds for different areas of the uk .

just trying to start a bit of brainstorming here guys so please air your thoughts on this and put your ideas up and lets see what we can come up with

Similar to what i suggested in the other thread Dan, maybe on other merchandise items (mugs etc) we could charge £1-2 extra then put that to charity at the end of the year?

Personally id like to see a military charity get a donation, close to my heart being ex forces.

Think this is a fantastic idea dan... Not so much for publicity tbh, but for a good cause!! Well willing to help.

As for charity, I'm with Craig, although I'd suggest any except help for heroes - not because it's a worthy cause as its brilliant - but it's now one of the most popular charity in the country and so many suffer because of it's success.

Afghan heroes could be a shout? Or maybe royal British legion?

Not fussed at all tbh - be happy with whatever.

    Again - great idea

Do a "torch run" - each member takes a section of a long route and passes "the torch" to the next rider.

Depending on the charity, the "torch" could be a more relevant item - e.g. Help for Hero's flag or whatever.

Excellent idea, I'm in. In terms of promotion, we should ask the companies in the traders section to contribute. They can use it for publicity, and it's tax deductible.

Agree that there are lots of worthy causes out there, so in the interests of democracy, maybe come up with a short list and go for a pole to let the greater populous decide.

What about Military, Bike and Children related categories & choose 1 from each?

We could also set a Just Giving page up for each, to make donating easier?

I'm up for this, it looks like we have members round the whole of the UK so the flag / item would be travelling a fair way.

I agree, looking at the map a Lands End-John O Groats is certainly an option to start with, to get the flag or what ever we carry would not be an issue? Montgomery transport send wagons over to ireland every day, im sure said mascot could travel free gratis especially if there is a bit of free advertising on the go?

Now that is a great idea guys, I'm up in any way you like. the idea to circumnavigate the county would be a great event too. We could all approach our local dealer's to sponsor them selves as a stop/changeover and in so doing use the publicity locally as they wish?

    Great start???

    I am in.

Armed Forces, Air Ambulance or children would get my vote but would be happy to go with the flow.

Like the idea our local dealers as a switch over point, assuming they are prepared to fork out for the exposure etc.

Our aftersales department also ship stuff to Ireland every other day so might be able to help with the “torch”. I can check this out if required.

With regard to forum promo bit and bobs. Dan, It would good to have car stickers, the kind that stick on the inside of the rear window, just an idea.

Window stickers , yes that would be good

I wonder how long it would take to get a torch round the uk ? Do we have overnight stays , night time riders ?
