Hi guys, Earlier today I made the decision to part exchange my 09 Kawasaki zx6r in for a 2012 Fireblade in black and white. The bike is completely standard apart from an R & G tail tidy and only has 2600miles on her, really is immaculate and looks nice in the black and white. This will be my first 1000cc bike and looking forward to picking it up on Friday. Also it's the non ABS model which seems to be a sour topic on these from what I can see. Anyway, thanks in advance for advice given its all appreciated. Daz!
Hi and welcome and congrats on the new bike. I assume if it's black and white that its an 11 Model year, registered in 12? Any photos?
Hi, I was actually trying to pinpoint the production year, it's registered on a 12 plate , 05/12. Doing a little research it does not have ABS, does not have the Showa suspension and has 3 spoke wheels, it's the RR-A model. Me and my friend thought it might be a 2010 but registered later, what's your thoughts on this? Is there any way I can find out to be exact?
It's a 2010 mate 2011 was all black with silver frame 2012 different fairing and as you say Showa and multi spoke wheels
Thanks for the confirmation ,it does not put me off the bike , I was already prepped that it may of been an earlier one. Still had it for the right £. I've seen the same with new cars being made and sat around for years without being registered.
welcome, I get my new one delivered tuesday, got a cover and some r&g stuff to keep it company in the garage.
P.S. Great bike, but it can't be ridden like a 600, especially when its a bit damp, the throttle will bite on bends if ripped open like a 600, same goes for straights too, but if you don't mind the front wheel sky high, then job's a good en, lol Just treat it with a little respect, at first at least I like to see everyone shiny side up
Sounds like a good job I'm pretty sensible when it comes to new bikes, Everyone I ride with are saying its a completely different league from the 600 , can't wait to find out. I've come from a background of off road bikes so don't mind a little front wheel up if it happens lol.
Welcome aboard..... Yeh think it's safe to say your going to be pleasantly surprised mr....good choice
I got the bike today, really is immaculate! Managed a little 45 minute blast on it earlier. First impressions are positive , a lot more comfortable than the zx6r. The cornering is very controllable and surprised how laid back it can be to ride.... And then you open it up and it's just endless power. At the moment it's got the standard exhaust on . It seemed a little too quiet so I'll be trying to disconnect the exhaust flap mechanism in the near future. R and G heated grips are going to be installed tomorrow by myself as I intend to use it through winter on the odd days. So any tips when installing these would be great!
Welcome Newbie, I have a 2010 RA with ABS so I'd check your VIN. When the rain clears I'm giving it a run out so ABS will be a new experience, one way or the other!!
