Apologies if this has been asked before but I was wondering if there is a general alarm owners would recommend?

I believe most guys in here hate their alarms. Many issues with them. Go with a tracker or chain, disc locks...

Never thought of a tracker. I use a disc lock on the front and chain lock on the rear. Seen on demon tweeks there's a lock for the front brake lever

Have a look at 'bike trak', or 'datatool websites. Worth the look

I have an alarm on my 750 gsxr it came with it I wouldn't fit one to a bike. My alarm is a data tool 3 I think it is. I have had big problems with the fob not working and the alarm used to go off all the time it's a nightmare I only leave it on as the bike sits in a unit away from my house. As stated above a tracker would b the way to go.

I wouldn't waste your money on an alarm. Most people ignore them, they're not reliable and insurance companies don't give a huge discount to warrant the initial outlay. Had a meta cat 1 on my last bike,it became temperamental after 2 years. Easier to replace with the same alarm again rather than take it out.

Cost me another £100 just for peace of mind as I didn't want to be stuck in Europe or middle of Wales with a dodgy alarm!

Funny you say that...on my last euro trip..one of my mates alarm did pack in at the tolls on the motorway....
We got the tools out and ripped it out...lol...

For me I wanted an alarm for me..as when I take my bike out..it's always parked close..and if it were to get tampered with I would be out in a giffy ..

Alarms are just a pain in my experience!!! I've got a croclock, great bit of kit, visual deterrent, locks throttle and front brake! I use ground anchor and chain when at home but this is great for out and about.

No issues with alarms in years... the majority of issues come from owners letting the internal batteries drain.

I've a Datatool System 3 on my Blade... it's spot on.

not sure anything will stop 3/4 guy's. If they want something bad they'll take it. Like I said at home it's ground anchored and chained. Most people ignore alarms these day's, there's always one going off somewhere. The only sure way to stop your bike being nicked is to ride a Yamaha:D

You can't beat getting a tracker, I use Tracker uk monitored yes it isn't cheap £350 for the system and a yearly sub however, when you think most of us spend thousands on trick bits and upgrades why would you not then spend a few hundred on something that could get your pride and joy back should the worse happen. I only have to move my bike across the garage and I get a call from them also the police tend to be faster of the mark when they have a better chance of catching the scumbags. They have phoned me when the bikes been in for a service asking if the bike was safe and did I know the battery had been disconnected. Its the first thing I have fitted to my bikes before they even leave the showroom, as for an alarm you are better off getting one of them screamer disklocks.
