Anyone have any experience with any of the above rear sets? i have Diamond Racing at the moment but fancy a change for something a bit more up market. Which are the best? I'm fancying the Gilles VCR but there far more expensive.
Yes, they are superb! http://www.lightechuk.com/lightech-rearset--footrest-kits-644-c.asp I've had Gilles and Diamond rear sets and the Lightech are better than both. Nicer quality and easier adjustment.
Wow, the R's look real nice but at £500 with a brake light switch there a tad pricey compared to all the others.
Oh dear, i think I've spent enough on her this year. truth be told there's nothing wrong with what i have, just fancied an upgrade, think i may stick to Gilles.
I've found the SES rear sets are great quality. Also look good with loads of adjustments and for about £250. http://www.sesraceproducts.com/adjustable-rearsets---honda-cbr1000rr-08-11-rsh016-273-p.asp Im guessing your fireblade is a 08+ They crash well aswell. Didn't snap, just bent. Got them back into shape.
Thanks James that sounds a bit more like it. £500+ would be ok if I really needed them and they were gonna make a massive difference but as I'm just fancying a change its a bit steep. I think I might go for those.
I got my gillies from cal sport think I paid £360 http://calsport.co.uk/honda-cbr-1000-rr-fireblade-14-2014/gilles-controls/gilles-rearsets/VCR-H03B/
Bonamici all day long! https://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/product.php?productid=17615&cat=611&page=3 They Crash well too as a Brucie Bonus!
Have to say Im well impressed with my Bonamici rearsets. Customer service and back up was phenomanal.
Lightech - but don't bother with the R version, just get the standard ones (not only are they £150 cheaper, they're exactly the same, its just the R version have some carbon stuff and red stuff on them and different bearings or something like that). I use them and love them, and they crash well too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CBR...520729?hash=item35ccfeda19:g:SlsAAOxyIYhSWazK
Thanks mate i will have a look at those later, I don't get eBay on my works computer for some reason.
Not quite. Carbon heel plates Ceramic bearings All titanium components Folding pegs Worth the extra £150... Debatable, but I love mine.
Do the ceramic bearing make much difference do you think? I'm tempted by the R's as im thinking by midd 2016 i may end up buying another road bike and keeping this as a pure track bike so may as well buy the best. i'm just wondering what the advantages are over the more expensive options compared to the cheaper ones such as SES or even the really cheap ones that are around £120.
There is also the argument that if you're going to track the bike, is it worth buying the best!? As inevitably they will be getting battered. Just make sure the ones you buy have decent replacement parts available too. Regarding the R version Lightech - the folding pegs are definitely a bonus.
That is something i'd considered, am thinking maybe the Bonamici or SES might be the way to go, to be hones I like the Diamond Racing ones I have at the moment but the problem is they don't allow the piston to correctly align with the rear master cylinder for the brake effectively giving me next to know rear brake. I have had this in at 2 places who have agreed this seems to be the issue. I was hoping a more expensive set may line up properly and eradicate the problem.
Conquest Carbon sell both the standard and R version Lightechs. 5% discount on them too with 005, works out cheaper than anywhere else (including Lightech themselves). Ordering a set of Rs in the new year
