As I have been a good boy this year, I thought I would treat myself to some new boots. I have had Sidis and Alpinestars in the past and no real problems with them (apart from a pair of Alpinestars SMX Plus boots ripping in half in a low speed crash) but I have seen so many fellow racers wearing Daytona boots. Soooooo, I decided to take the plunge and get a pair of Daytona Security GP Pro boots. They arrived today and what a bit of kit they are. To say they feel bombproof is an understatement. Not easy to get on at all (probably easier to take the inner boot out first) but once they are on, they feel like nothing else I have ever worn. Now I know they aren't cheap, but when you speak to people who have crashed in them and walked away with no damage, then it suddenly all become worthwhile. I was amazed at the damage my Alpinestars suffered after a 60mph lowside at Anglesey circuit. They literally ripped in half. Anyway, these are going to take some bedding in, but I will report back when I have tried them on the bike.
Nice boots Robin, I tried a pair on but struggled with the clumpy feel! .... I've always worn AlpineStars Supertech and they have a new version for 2015 so I'm going to stick with what feels good...
Yeah I think a lot of it is down to how it feels for you. These certainly aren't a road boot and if I wasn't racing, then they wouldn't be my choice.
deffo not as comfy as s/stars,but feel so much more secure,i love mine, but do start to rub a bit after a full day on track.
If I was doing what your doing they would be my choice proven in extreme spills hopefully you won't be putting them that to the test , get put a price on protection, good to see the airbag suits coming down in price,
Very true Sir. Infact, I only ride fireblades. When I give up the blade I give up riding. . I have been out this morning.
