It's all very intriguing, it sounds like two Honda's thuogh if David is not trying to fool us with his sig?

    I quote
"So the saying goes ' you meet the nicest people on a Honda' well I must be delightful because the 1199 Ducati Panigale is going and there is going be another Honda back in my garage, not one but two!! Watch this space."

Lads come on 450 all the way I had a wr450 all jetted up with the full system air box mod ect that i used to enduro on and it was bang on I haven't ridden a 250 but I was told because you will have it on the limit more it will take more maintenance.

Also keep on top of the maintenance because the honda isn't anywhere neat as reliable as the yams or the kwaks unfortunately . I know on the 450 hondas you are best to change I think it was the exhaust valves from titanium to stainless ones because the titanium ones stretch badly and fall into the piston smashing the engine to pieces as well as making sure the oil is done often because it runs through the box as well. My bro races for a honda team in aus and he basically gets it stripped down after i think every race he was amazed when i told him my 450 had done 70h that I know of on the piston and my mate had gotten i think it was 115h out of his before he thought about changing it not because it was slapping just because he fancied doing it lol when he had the piston out there wear was actually quite minimal as well

Keep guessing folks, James got it via text but then he knows me quite well so it wasn't that hard to guess. As a hint, its going to get and suspension, some sticky tyres and a handlebar change.

Thanks for the input Carlo, I was all for going for the 450, being a litre plus road rider it was the obvious choice but after listening to what the Honda off road guys where saying to me I went with the advice I was given and so far the 250 is a laugh a minute. I can always up grade to the 450 later if I want to. But, so far the 250 is huge fun, whilst it was a bit cold I spent an hour ragging around my land this afternoon. Pulling it onto the back wheel and spinning it up with no effort. Regarding the maintenance I have it on good Honda tech advice that it doesn't need as much work as the book suggests unless you are racing the tits off it. He gave me a 'unofficial maintenance schedule' based on what I will be doing and its not too bad at all. Most of it is well within my engineering degree capability although the shimming sounds a bit complicated but then maths was never my strong point.

As always with me being retentive it was an hour in the fields and then two hours cleaning. Plus a quick oil and filter change, not that it needs it yet but better safe then sorry.

I am loving the CRFx its a right laugh and wish I had brought one before. It will also enable me to keep riding through the off season and it wont really matter if I drop it.

    They are great fun,

An oil and filter change already I remember changing the oil on mine about once a month and I rode it to work a fue times  lol 20 mile there 20 back. From what I was told keep on top of the filter ie keep it dam clean and you will save a lot of wear on the piston. I used No toil oil its water proof and uses a special cleaner to remove it no paraffin involved and I liked the idea of the filter surviving when fully submerged in a river :D

When it arrives in March it will have 18" wheels, which is making it difficult for me to find sticky tyres to replace the OE ones.

Give that man a Cuban cigar.......CB1100Ex in black coming in March. Handle bars are getting swopped for lower ones, suspension changed, and sticky tyres. I might need to change the wheels to get the sticky tyres I want but will be keeping the wire wheels but that's no great shakes. I would also like to swop the pipes but the options are thin on the ground at the moment.

Its not a Fireblade or Panigale, two types of motorcycle I have loved and had for years but given my shitty back problems it will hopefully keep me on the road with two wheels.

In a funny kind of way I am looking forward to it.

I'm strangely drawn to the new Triumph Speed Twin flat tracker.
