Dropped it off today . Brandnew box going in. They are replacing both shafts as well. Old box will be a spare . Good time to add fancy slipper clutches . They were on with brandnew 0 miles bikes whilst I was there

That's a great idea :). I actually asked about whilst I was there and they said no problem. Is the nova box sorted then? Heard rumours it was still being made and they were doing a close ratio one .

Tell me more about his r1 Jimbo :)

Interesting. The engine must just drop straight out I suppose, and the rest of the bike remain untouched.

When they took the motor out of my Triumph they had to take the whole bike apart starting with taking the back wheel out, front wheel off, swinging arm off........Never seen such a mess !

I would be sending my back , always worth waiting a year always happens including cars and different brands, it's how it's dealt with is the difference and the dealer that is doing the work.

I don't really give a sh*t, as long as they fix it, my mate takes his engine out every winter and rebuilds it, he's never had a problem :D

Just gives it more hype and of course saves costs so a good idea otherwise dealers could get stuck with them if they were over produced but also would take away the exclusive appeal of the model and keep 2nd hand prices high,

At least Yamaha have the balls to do a recall.

The gearbox on my £24k Ducati 1098R failed at around 120mph when approaching Druids at Brands Hatch back in 2009.

Ducati knew they had a problem with the gearbox but have failed to do a recall, instead they just waited for gearboxes to fail which only predominantly happens when the bike was pushed extremely hard on track. As most Ducati owners don't push the envelop due to age and capability the number of gearbox failures have been fairly low.
