Just curious when people post pictures of their bike why do they cover their number plate up so know one can see them seems really weird do they drive round the streets with them covered up
Stops someone cloning your reg and makes them search for someone else's. In reality it's easy to find a car/bike specific reg online, but best not to make it easy for them. Imagine getting a ticket through the post for non payment of a parking ticket, speeding fine, congestion zone etc.
plus, if you put a picture up low life scumbags can use that photo to advertise your bike for sale on places like ebay as a scam. Many years ago a mate of mine had a black escort rs2000 . Now these were quite rare even back then .so imagine his surprise to see a black rs2000 coming towards him with the same reg number on it as his. Anyway after catching the bloke up and a visit to the police station where he and the other bloke were arrested , they found that his car was the genuine one and the other bloke had bought a ringer.
Same happened with my Astra Gte , had a visit from the police one day . Told me 2 identical ones were on the road . Mine was ok thank god , woulda bin well outta pocket
appened with my Astra Gte , had a visit from the pigs one day . Told me 2 identical ones were on th I take it you have had a bad experience with the Police hence you call them Pigs? You do realise all you will do is make them smile don't you? It has a specific meaning as a compliment.. P ride I integrity G uts So on behalf of my former colleagues, I will say thank you.
I won't edit T.C's post but can everyone remember we have a open forum and please don't discriminate on here. We like to keep to a open friendly forum and don't want to discourage anyone coming on and enjoying the place, Police or Ex police alike
Apologies , no offence intended it was a slip of the tongue and i should have thought about what I'd written and checked it was all ok before posting . I shall do in future. Also I don't want to start a discussion regarding the police , not on here anyway. @T.C Steve
Rest assured I took no offence at all, as I have been out for a long time now, but it is a term that I often hear used, and when it was used by the scumbags I used to have to deal with, who thought they were being clever and funny, their faces changed big time when you told them what it stood for as that was not what they meant or thought. I just cannot ever understand why people have to use a derogatory term when referring to someone or something unless they have had a bad experience, but ten it just means that everyone gets tarred with the same brush. I will get off the soap box now..........
If I'm completely honest it is a term I used when I was very young , never usually use it anymore these days. Last night I had a few shandys and it crept into the post without me thinking. My experiences with the police are very very few, however I do find most ok but some are how shall I put it. Not very nice or helpful. At least I never ended up going on eBay and bidding on a 5 grand jet ski or similar last night. Once again I apologise for the comment. @T.C Steve
As I said, no offence was taken on my part, I have heard a lot worse, I was more interested as to why people use derogatory such terms. Back to the original point, if a number plate is cloned as a result of the number being seen on a forum or whatever, you at least have a bit of evidence to support any allegations, particularly if your bike has some distinctive features as you can at least show that the bike is genuinely yours as you have talked about it on a public forum (I hope that makes sense?) It is swings and roundabouts really. If someone os going to clone a number they often (depending on the vehicle) will look at demo vehicles as their local dealership as it takes a lot longer and is more difficult to prove ownership or who the driver was before realising it has been cloned.
I didn't originally want to comment , as it gives people ideas I.e I watched a program on tv once which actually showed people how to clone people's bank cards by purchasing the equipment off the internet for £100 ....................
I'm sure u all get the jist from the original post at the very top lol Not seen u on the monkey bike at squires in a while Steve !!!!
I often remove my no plate from posts on forum mainly due to what has been posted before. The only time i've had issues was when I received a notice of prosecution/fine for driving in London in the bus lane.problem was I have never driven in London and not been in London since I was 10 with the family When I wrote back with a picture of my car it was a different car they had and was a mistake by the people on the CCTV. All I received back was that due to lack of evidence !!! they won't prosecute. which was interesting as the make and colour of the car was different. my Blue fiesta Vs a red Escort So not the same thing
i have broken it !! i managed to put a crack in the crank case whilst kicking it over due to the high compression ratio,so i am awaiting a new casing from the far east ,(no not hull.) then i am lowering the ratio a bit on it . I am also waiting for a rothmans replica nsr 50 gag bike from japan ,which will hopefully be here for the beginning of the season .
