I had one on my last blade, very happy with it, no problems at all and a lot of fun. Only thing is insurance company didn't like it and whacked up the premium for some reason. Think they thought I was using it on track or racing.
Been thinking of a HM unit myself although probably just the Lite. Is it worth having on a road bike?
Is the basic HM shifter good enough and easy to set up? I'm not fussed about the quick downshifting so don't need the top model.
Have a plus on my blade, it's mint... Prob going to try the ss though as meant to be a little smoother.... Not sure about set up on lite mate but unless your bike has auto blooper then they don't do down shift regardless of model. As Scott says, once you have one you won't be without. Great kit and fun....
Rab i know you've sent me a pm but for some reason it won't allow me to answer, not sure why so i shall answer here.. Imo its a pile of poo, using it chewed 3 of my gearboxes up which i had to replace at great cost. Im not going to say with 100% certainty that this will happen to your gear box as i know one or two people who use them on the zx10r with great success however i know MANY people who used them on their zx10r and had the exact same issues as I've had. I personally know a BSB team who advise their customers not to use them because they're so sick to death of sending them back because they're chewing gear boxes. I switched to the Translogic and have never had an issue,,,
Three gearboxes Matt or three gears? IMO I don't think hm, or any others are better or worse for gearbox.... Fact is, most standard boxes ain't cut out for hard track / racing at all.... But qs's do put more load on the gears I'm sure.... Be surprised if you find many that are anti HM, would say majority of folk would agree they are the best out there?
the zx10's are quite well known to have poor gearboxes so wouldn't say you could blame it on the q/s. and as jimbo said,i assume you mean it's knackered 3 gears, but again, assume you have only just found this out during your refresh? gearboxes are a weak point on most of the new thou bikes, its about time they just put in nova boxes as standard
Too true scooby and to keep cost the same all that rubbish like lights, fairings, pillion seats and what not should all be an optional extra
No 3, yes 3 gearboxes, not 2 or 1 but 3. Three times i have taken my bike back to MSS to have the gearbox redone.. Now i accept that the zx10r hasn't got the best gearbox for sure but i do blame the quick shifter. For the last 6 months I've had the Translogic fitted without issue and i spoke to Jeb (Jonh) at MSS on Thursday, i asked him if the gearbox was ok and he said it was fine nothing needed doing to it. So it doesn't take a detective to work this out. for 6 months i used the HM (even though i was advised not to) and i had three damaged gearboxes. I switched to the Translogic quick shifter for the last 6 months of the year without any issues or damage...... I don't work or have any loyalty toward Translogic and i have no axe to grind against HM, these are simply the facts but I'm sure i will now be told that the gearbox fairies must have done it.....
cheers matt had the superlite on before it was rubbish was going to get the hm plus not going to bother now
well you should have put a nova in,would ahve saved you loads, never known anyone to do 3 complete gearboxes in 6 months
Keith, who now rides the Ducati (zx10 at the time), you know him well also went through 3 gearboxes in a similar time, hence he put the nova in....
like i said, weak gear boxes. but didn't relise he put 3 in his bike,he only rode a handfull of times before he binned it at almeria, then when he was concussed, mick offered him a silly low price for it,and bought it haha, mates eh,dont you just love em'
