Hi guys In 2 minds on wither to buy a new car next year, and have my Vivaro as the bike courier, or just buy a new shape Transit. I've been using the Vivaro as an every day vehicle anyway after selling my car back in April. Does anyone own a new style transit that can give a review of it? I'd need to check if it could still take 2 bikes in the back easily also. Thanks
They're getting cheaper now Col, looked at 1 myself but am still err'ing towards a new Vivaro or Trafic. If U get the LWB High Roof like this one U can easy get 2 Bikes in, all the gear and stand up in it so great for sleeping in too! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/us...-201511258970719?advert-type=featured-listing
Honestly don't like the high roof 1's mate. I'd like to at least keep it a decent looker if it was to be my every day driver. Do you know what it's like size wise compared to the likes of my SWB Vivaro in comparison to the SWB transit?
TBH all the small LWB Vans like the Vivaro/Trafic/Primastar/Tranny Custom etc are all 500mm longer than the SWB one's. The Tranny Custom is the best 'Looker' of the High Roofs which is why I looked at it. Will probably go with a Trafic LWB as their warranty is better than the Vauxhall and they include the Colour Sat Nav and Reverse camera as standard on the Sport which is a few hundred extra on the Vivaro Sportive
I'd have another Vivaro/traffic but do like the look of the transit custom. 1 thing I'm a bit worried about on the transit is that I've heard they are a bit flimsy panel wise. I've seen 2 already with the front wings hanging off, as if they have just popped off the mounts.
I've had mine from new. It's a SWB and is one down from the sport model. No real complaints, drives just live a car and is deffo better than the Vivaro I had before. Bluetooth, heated seats, air con, elec windows etc etc. The only disappointment for me is the mileage. I get around 29-30 MPH which to me seems crap for a new van in this day and age. With regards to space, I'm a gas engineer so I have racking which narrows the rear space. I can get one bike in pushed up to the bulk head sat on a paddock stand just fine. Two bikes? I'm sure you could but no idea how easily it would be tbh. There are some cheap lease deals out there also if you don't want to buy outright.
I'm not too fussed about buying outright, though not sure how leasing would go as I don't have a business. I just use a van for the bikes and don't mind looking like a pikey driving it daily.
Just setup Colins cleaning services, make up a letterhead if they ask and away you go. I never even got asked when I got mine. Transit is just like driving a car around, very comfy.
Col you'd easily get two bikes in a standard custom mate, looked at em already and they are surprisingly big in back.... Easily as big if not bigger than yours right now..... For me it'd either be custom or vw, think the Renault / Vauxhall look a bit pants tbh I love the transporters and possibly a kombi might be best thing for me.... But they are lots for what they are and I'm starting to think the vw looks a bit dated compared to the tranny interior and even the styling. The sport rocks IMO!! Parked down my road today looks sweet.... Fella I know just bought this though..... Man of your means really should own this
I seen those m sport models earlier when browsing. Look great, but a bit pricey for a transit. That's heading towards a VW sportline at that rate. I know what your saying with the VW looking a bit dated just now. I personally like the look of the Ford better. Something like that 1 that was parked up the road from you is what I'd be looking for. Minus the go faster stripes.
Don't mind the stripes Know what your saying and the old "vw's hold there money" is so true.... And dare I say better vans, and I love the whole surf bus scene.... But these customs hold there money brilliant also (especially the sport)....
Nerd alert here, if you get one with side windows for middle bench seat you can go 70 on a motorway, I am 99% certain a van is 60 on a m'way and 50 on an A road. Yes its rare but it does happen if P.C. Plod is having a REALLY bad day. Worth checking the rules but may explain the increase in VW Day vans / Kombi's with windows in centre section. Vivaro wider at the top than VW too if that is important. I really liked how the Transit custom I hired for a track day went. I almost got a Vivaro as daily driver. The SWB low roof are not much longer than a Passat estate for parking etc. Still kind of wish I had in hindsight. Member on here is a Ford dealer principal - so don't order one without speaking to him (ask if you need details)
Van is 70 on a motorway mate. Only time you get fooked is on a dual carriageway where you need to do 60 (I got done for it 6 months ago with the average speed cameras on the A9) Ping me the details of you can of that said someone. It may twist my arm.
Ah - just checked and its A roads at 50 on Transits but motorways 70, dual's 60 so there is a 'benefit' of the middle bench seat which turns your Transit into a 'Dual purpose vehicle' https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits
How much for a pimped tranny.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-Ford...100972?hash=item4645e1416c:g:Da4AAOSw8-tWZ8fD
