Hey one and All... Recently had my rear tyre replaced,and whilst it was being done the fella found my rear pads were dust so replaced them as well. Charged me a one,r for the pads and to replace the tyre.just wondered if anyone thought this was a lot or the going rate. I,m not to bothered with it,but does the price differ a lot for from person to person?
Rear pads are around £15 a set and quick and easy to replace. So if you were charged £100 to change a tyre you supplied and then supply and fit rear pads I'd say that was a bit expensive. It obviously depends on location and garage used.
I'd say it was a bit pricey, that job would take anywhere between 1/2 to 1 hour. Let say labour is around 60-70 £/H, even worst case that £85 top whack. I'd expect £50-60 all in
Thanks for the replies,he told me about the need for the pads,and that he,d fit them but ,no,actually he didn't give me a price at the time. Perhaps,I,ll mention that to him tomorrow when I pick the bike up. Probably get some old towel off him tho,he,s a wily old bird.
£10 to balance and replace the tyre, no time at all to change the pads. £50 absolute tops in my opinion.
Think it's steep but.... Pretty certain that he had to remove wheel (rear caliber already off though) and he isn't supplying tyre so will charge for that also I'd expect... Tyre fitting only inc when buying tyres and always £30 extra in my experience for ride in ride out... So.... £15 wheel removal and re-fit £12.50 for tyre change £30 rear pads? Total guess never buy em £15 change pads really is a ten min job especially with the wheel out anyway.... Soon add up to £72.50 Sure the guys got to make a living so hardly day light robbery, but a little expensive and a bit round pound £100 IMO. Id def ask for the old pads though, as could be his normal 'service' to make a tyre change worth his while?
Thanks for the replies fellas,especially Jimbo(very indepth),, And yeh..after much tooing and froing,I got him down to £75,still a bit ott,but in his defence he had a hard time finding pads yesterday. Will do pads myself next time..
Deffo pants Down syndrome .... Sorry fella! There are plenty of options for rear pads! And as the rear wheel was out it would have taking someone 5-10 mins to change them.... Tops
Not looking to hijack the thread, but opinions on Front Tyre replacement? I've asked for a Michelin Pilot Power 2CT, (£76 with valve) with my front wheel (already off bike) to the garage, and I've been quoted £109 all in. Pricey??
Jimbo, none for that, as I have taken it off myself, and just need to drive it up to the garage. They want to charge £15 for "Supply, Fit & Balance" So I guess not too bad.
That's what I mean.... A lose wheel. So add £15 quid for taking the wheel off, price of some pads and changing and OP is expensive but not horrendous.... £15 a tyre is standard from my experience
Some garages charge extra to fit tyres not supplied by them as there losing out on not supplying the tyre, a place not far from me in fleet do it
