Guys, I'm considering buying Shoei GT Air, principly because I like the Ragalia design.
Anyone use on of these and do you have any thoughts on it?

Two concerns I have is the weight 1710g v's my HJC 1450, do you suffer neck fatigue?

Secondly, glasses? Can you wear prescription glasses under the sun visor?

Should I perhaps be better looking at the NXR? I want something that's as quiet and safe as possible.

    Thanks in advance

I have no issue with the weight of mine it's fooking noisy though ear plugs a must.
I don't wear glasses but can't really see a problem with clearance, having said that I'm not a fan of the sliding tinted visor I would sooner fit a tinted visor.

Try it on, helmets are a personal thing. if it fits and you like it buy it

Unless your riding hours upon hours the weight makes little difference

Hmm...that is a tricky one but as the other guys said, try it first with glasses and see how it fits. You may find the sliding visor annoying having to push the lever up and down (bit flimsy) imo. Quiet, not the best out there but worth considering an Arai or an HJC.

Thanks for the replies guys, given me good for thought. I tried one on at the NEC, so was gona order it on line from helmet city. The nearest shop to me is J&s and they still want circa £400 compared to city £300. But I didn't think to try it on with my glasses.
I'd read a review that they were quiet, so now I'm thinking not to bother with the whole idea.
My HJC rhpa is loud, but started to move about a bit, so I'm thinking new helmet to match the new Gixer. The shoei does fit my head really well though.

I wouldn't bother with j&s you can never get any deals off them. My mate got some boots a little while ago from CMC & they did price match so he got a good deal. I see you're not far from the one at clay cross may be worth you popping in if you round that way & trying some on then see if they'll do price match

I looked at the NXR, didn't try it on, but presume it will be the same fitting.
Only reason I've shyed away from it is the colour and I was told that the NXR was designed as a race helmet and is quite noisey. Perhaps I need to read more reviews!!

To be honest I'd wear ear plugs with all helmets these days

I've had a GT air for about a year now, and although initially I'd hoped for a bit more from it, when trying on various other lids very few have come close.

I like the drop down visor myself, but can't help with the glasses question.

@Nytol I've noted it's quite heavy, do you feel it on your neck muscles on long rides ?

I have one... Lovely. A bit of misting on the sun visor at low speeds in the cold, when the main visor is down, but that's solved by just rains it when you stop.

I don't wear glasses when riding... Always contacts.

If im being honest im a bit disappointed in mine, I find it VERY noisy it also leaks round the visor when it rains, I don't think the airflow inside the helmet is up to much either.

@Kingfixer , that's a bit worrying.....I thought the GT Air was supposed to be the mutts nuts..... Sounds like you don't have much good to say about it at all. Which helmet do you generally use now?

@Tonic , I know a couple of lads who have the GT air and love it but it just doesn't work for me, I bought a HJC lid in the sales last year for doing track days with only but I end up wearing this more now instead.

I just don't know what to do fir the best now, sounds like the NXR is the lighter sporter helmet, but I still prefer the look of the gt air..... And it's a lot of money to burn if its not right.
