Hi all, I'm having a problem with my ABS light coming on randomly. I finally took the fireblade to Honda Maidstone & after paying their £81 hourly labour rate have found the cause (apparently). They said that at some point there had been a stone caught between the front sensor & the ABS ring on the wheel. So now I need a new sensor & the ring that goes on the wheel. Does anyone know how hard it would be to change the front sensor on an 09? I don't fancy paying the 1 1/2 hours they were quoting on top of the cost of the parts! The wheel part is easy I guess. Also does anyone have one for sale? I know a few on here have removed the whole system!

I've got a sensor sitting in a box in my garage.

How hard it is to get to in your bike is another question. You may need to remove some of the fairings and lift the tank, but apart from that it should just be a case of unplugging the old and in with the new.

I was just looking at your garage clear out thread! How much would you sell the sensor for & do you have the ring that goes on the front wheel?

The ring is part of the disc on the front as far as I can remember, the rear is separate part that can be mounted onto wheel.

You could check the ring for bent fins and carefully move them back into alignment if damaged.

Oh by the way the abs light will come on if the front wheel lifts off the ground while moving ie. wheelie, as the ecu gets confused when the speed differentiates too much front and rear!

Have you checked the ecu fault codes too see what was bringing the light on yourself?

Pretty sure I've taken the ring off also Craig.

I'm down at the garage again at the weekend mate and will dig out the sensor and check for the sensor ring. If it's there how does £10 plus a couple of quid posted sound?

Also have an updated 2012 abs ECU if you are interested in that?

I found it worked better than the 2010 ECU.

Sounds like a bargain! Can you just swap the 12 ECU for an 09? What difference did the 12 make?

Yes straight swap. Just take the rear seat plastics off and it's sitting under the lock mechanism for the rear seat. Unplug old 1 and plug in the new 1. Disconnect battery first obviously.

I found that the brakes reacted better with a better feel for some reason.
Also you could actually feel the front brake being applied if pressing down on the rear hard.

I'd do the ECU and sensor and ring for £50 posted.

Like the sound of that, how much would you take for the ECU?
