After 4,636 miles, the rear OE Dunlop Qualifier II had seen better days, although there was still some life in them, the rear was down on to the wear indicator. Still, they were OK. A bit low tech, in that they were single compound. I figured to wear them out instead of getting rid of them sooner. So lots of looking at tyres and what to get. the only other option that I gave serious consideration to was to try the new Bridgestone S21 when it becomes available. But in the end thought the T30 Evo would give better mileage, better grip on those heavy rain days of standing water, warm up quicker, and be just as grippy. And, if they are good enough for the Ron Haslam Race school then good enough for me. Only ridden the bike back from the garage in the lunch hour, so not tested yet. I get mine off Ron's bikes after they have done a couple of days - cracking tyres with plenty of grip and brilliant in wet weather too
Or how fecked your old ones were in comparison? It's amazing how good new tyres feel and makes you realise the set you've just pulled off were fooked Tell you what though, that tread pattern would look sexy as on a proper bike like a Ducati
Sounds like a bargain. Glad to hear that you rate them, for me it has been all theory up to now - £289.95 worth of theory fitted. They look to have a good depth of tread on them - I mean there is a lot of meat on them - a good depth of rubber. Looking forward to getting some angles going !
Figured the Dunlop Qualifier II still had some life in them, but did not fancy wringing the last bit of life out of them just as the roads are getting colder, and wetter. They looked properly pooped when they were leaning against the wall at the garage -somehow looked worse than when they were on the bike ! That little Ducati 959 might fancy itself as good looking, but I don't know how it will sound with the modern Euro 4 exhausts - probably have to ask someone if it is on yet ! - not like that stubby little side pipe on the Fireblade sounds great in the underground carpark on start up: tchtchtchtch - voaoaoaoaoaoaoahhhrrrr Makes me smile thinking about it !
Well after just over 9,500 miles of use - the rear looks like this, and will be changed on Tuesday There is still some legal life left in the tyres, as they are not down to the wear indicators yet - but they are as square as hell, and not really very nice to ride on through any twisties. So that is the problem. These tyres are probably still fine if you want to commute and keep your bike upright the whole time, but I cannot put up with such square tyres. They have done their job as planned - that is a season of long trips to Europe (with luggage) including - two trips to Italy and back, and also to Assen TT and back. No problems even at xx mph coming back through torrential rain, and coming down the mountains in Italy in hail storms and torrential rain - all good. It is just returning home, the riding is no longer upright motorway, but more local twisties, and I cannot put up with such awfully squared off tyres - so booked in to have the Bridgestone S21, as not planning so many long haul rides next year - but more park the luggage, and staying in one place.
