Apart from exhaust which is in hand ,oh and seat hump on the way what other extras can I get to personalise my bog standard blade. What have others owners added to their blade. Usual stuff, exhaust ,hump and screen is what I usually add .
To be quite honest if I had an 11/12 year old bog standard blade that's exactly how I would keep it. I personally think any extras you put on a bike this sort of age will actually devalue it. Just my opinion mind.
I've been doing bits to mine. Just kept all the originals to swap back if needed. evotech tail tidy, seat cowl, brake light with integrated indicators. flush fit front indicators. full set of crash bungs, removed rear pegs and gonna change the rear reservoir to fit straight to the cylinder. Double bubble screen, levers, quickshift Things to do. Brake lines, rearsets, swingarm cover/coating black. Oh, and got my seats in for some fancy trimming Its all personal preference tbf though. Theres that much u can do, you could end up with a new bike by the end of it lol
As above mines the rr5 totally bog standard other than the carbon kit I've put on but only take 30 mins to take off Again
Not interested in track thanks. What does surprise me is the leave it standard replies. Is it an age thing, or an it,s not worth doing thing, where is the line drawn. In my mind it,s odd buying a new bike and replacing new parts but that seems the norm, yes done it my self and the reason then is the same as it is now, personalisation. And I thought it was just women who were odd. This surely stacks against replacing perfectly good leathers as they don,t match new bike.Bonkers really.
Well my RR5 has had loads of changes and my new bike will too, I only change for the track though as I don't see the need for change on the road in the uk So if just for running about on uk roads I would now leave it standard if I where you? Or mod like crazy and put a sports bike where it was meant to be - A track
Could be an age thing, but I think that once a bike starts getting into the " classic" sort of age they look far better as a well kept and maintained standard bike. Don't forget the 2004 bike was the first blade with the underseat pipe. It won't be long before it starts to become a collectors piece ( like the original blade and the original R1 ). Also I'm at an age where I think some of the pimped up bikes look more like a tarts handbag.
I was at a local bike show in the summer and hot lots of interest in mine as it's 10 years old and mint so when bikes get to a age bog standard does look better
ive got an almost standard 91 gixer 750 , had her years and has had all sorts of anodised/carbon tat on over the years, thank god I kept all the standard parts ( except the standard exhaust which corroded on the inside ) but still has a period exhaust on tho. point is, if its in good nick and low miles its much better that its standard and people notice that, some one mentioned they where amazed I still had the rear mudguard that wasn't chopped down ( as was the norm back in the day, mine was but I kept the orginal one ) its 25 yerars old and people notice her and comment lots on it. the RR4 will be a 'classic' without a doubt ........................must get one to keep
3 things: Power Commander, Power Commander and Power Commander. Best thing I ever did for my blade, better than any bling.
Sh1t that Goldie looks scary, I used to like her a lot. Can understand the original look and mine is original but no way I'm keeping miles down or keeping it as a keep sake. I had an original R1 in 2000 and gear box went . At the end of the day I will use it till I get bored or get something better. I could just end up with a mint high miler which fits no niche. Que sera.
Just what I've done on mine... (so far ) Arrow full system Hm ss quickshifter Bazzaz fuel module Red coolant hoses Braided lines all round, hrc rear res Sbs pads Down geared with talon sprockets Rearset risers New fairing set with custom bsb Rep scheme . Tail tidy and integrated led tail light And more to come when I can afford! Kept all standard parts so I can return it to stock one finished
Yeah I've got a build thread here.. http://1000rr.co.uk/threads/my-rr4-build-thread.27959/#post-398451 Will be updating soon, just waiting on a few parts to arrive before I post again
