Hi all. I mentioned in my newbie post that I have an itch for a Blade even though I have a Blackbird that does pretty much everything, Still you know what it's like once that itch is there. I have been pondering and doing a bit of homework and seem to have settled on the 06/07 model as the one that seems to fit the bill. The 04/05 I'm not so keen on with the fairing lower part and the later 08 starts getting too dear for me. Would this be a good option? I have seen a few but only an 05 locally I can test ride. What are the pros and cons to look out for please, or should I just keep my faithful old Blackbird as I really wont be gaining that much, but losing more?
not a whole lot of difference beteween the 04/5 and 06/7. tbh your better off saving a little more and getting an 08-
Hmm! Food for thought but my partner will kill me if I sell the Bird so only have a finite spend on it, A big jump from 07 to 08 model?
Ya Big Girl! That's nowt, I have to hide far more than that from my Mrs! Ya can't beat living on the edge!
Lol sinewave. My Mrs thought that really funny. Damn she know the ruse. Still there is a nice dark silver ( or whatever its called) at a dealers in Loughborough. May pop over next week. Take a look and see what you think Its on eBay
Dead easy, get the bike and tell her it's your mate's and he's lent it to you. If she believes you let me know if she's got a good looking sister.
I just keep buying the same Colour Bike. Colour Blind she isn't! Remembering a Number Plate? No Chance!
Good plan. I like Black Blades and there is one on eBay, but I better ride one first to see how it feels
I'd go for an 08 model onwards. Seen some around for around £5K mark. Honda did a big redesign between 07 and 08 models. Switched to a mass centralisation philosophy (lower CoG) to handle better
If you can stretch to the latter blade go for it, either way all are great bike and will put a smile on your face
I would say first and most important, ride one because it is very different to the bird in terms of comfort, handling and balance. there was an article in ride (I think), that said blades started getting heavier in the 2000's. But apparently 2008 was a turning point in terms of handling, weight, performance etc, etc, etc...I can certainly vouch for the responsiveness of the chassis But I doubt if you can tour on the blade with a pillion and luggage. So choose wisely
I bought one of the last rr7's on an 08 plate because I preferred the under seat exhaust it was great until I tried an rr8 and realised I had made a big mistake, the two are very different bikes.
you just confirm what the pressed wrote about at the time. Very interesting. Se, you have a live one here. hear it from the horses mount
