I had no idea that the age of the bedrock in the UK was so varied. Like the rock underneath my brother's house in Essex is around 225 million years younger than that under my gaff. http://mapapps.bgs.ac.uk/geologyofbritain/home.html If anyone's interested
I did less than 300 miles last year. I'll know how many exactly once I dig out the mot and go for a new certificate in the next couple of weeks. I've decided that if I don't use the bike again like last year then it will be going. Not that I want to, but if life/work gets in the way too much then there's no point really in having it sitting there doing nothing. I may just head down the track only route of this is the case.
Funnily enough I was toying with the idea of tracking it instead but the way I figured the other day, the bike isn't costing me anything other than the insurance (£118 this year), the tax and the cost of an MOT. I know if I get rid of it I'll immediately want to ride the sodding thing. In my head the main problem last year was a reluctance to gear-up in the leather onesie when it was hot and not particularly wanting to ride when it was cold either. With that in mind I'm going to get a vented textile jacket with a zip out thermal liner to hopefully broaden the amount of time that I want to ride. Couple it with some leather trousers and see if that encourages me anymore.
It's no coincidence that the whole country is tipping slowly into the north sea. Look at the evidence. Most of the high, bones of the earth cliffs are down here and running up the west coast. Someone up there has eaten all the pies... I'm just saying.
I'm not saying a word. Barely got out on mine last year. First 6 months no money, second 6 months no time. Not sure how many miles I did but wouldn't be surprised if you had beaten me.
Right, why do we work so hard for? It's not the doing its the getting around to I find hardest. Nothing worse than wanting too, not doing it then the day turns out nice !! Puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day!! Travelled around Germany then Assen Gp last year, Mugello year before, all great memories. Push ourselves!!! Should do a mileage board, who's been where n weekly, monthly mileage. Inspire us all to do more, even a random fun snap on route ???
Sounds like something Simon Cowell would be involved in. Do we get booted off the forum for not putting in enough miles, only to be saved by the public phone vote?
We need a few more forum trips as I noticed during my MOT this week that my mileage hadn't gone up much. I reckon i've done at least double the mileage on the track bike
Got my bike MOT'd yesterday too, usually get it done a month before it runs out, but forgot all about it this year, so it was out of test. Reading this thread I checked the mileage from last year, 2300 miles done January to October, 4000 miles the year before. On the other side of the shed, sits the old 600 Suzuki, got that tested last year, that had done 8 miles in a year...and it fired up first press of the starter..
Woodside Autos (Big Dogs bike and trikes), Harwood court Riverside park. The bloke that owns it is called Gary, nice guy, very down to earth non bullshit and big bike nut. also does car/van mots, I've been going there years.
