A quick few words, after six months of ownership of the CBR1000 RR,

First impressions of it were that it was more Rally Car than Rolls Royce, and a bit of a 5-6 gear twist and go. Stalled it twice nearly dropping it, and missed second gear twice by putting it into neutral. Left the indicators on a few times as well. Pointing into corners was also not smooth as I pointed it in a bit too early or a bit too late (mostly too early !) and required a bit of correcting.

I reckon it took about 1,000 miles for it to fit like a glove and those issues of familiarity to be resolved.

In summary it looks nice, although I still prefer the SP in HRC colours. It sounds nice even as standard. It is not uncomfortable to ride. It is manageable ergonomically. It corners and stops well. The fuelling is superb at slow speeds. It seems to have two sides to it - sensible ordinary use which it will perform easily and happily - or the full 8,000 rpm going ballistic side to it.

It is nice to ride, even on trips abroad where you might be riding it all day for a few days at a time. It can carry a fair amount of luggage with H&B Sportrack attachment. Some sort of track day is also planed, where I am sure I will be passed by S RRs and ZX10s all day.

I have sinned and lusted after other bikes !
The ZZR1400 - decided against it as it is 268 kg !
The ZX-10R - is the only contender. Light, fast, affordable, can probably put a bag on the back of it. Looks grow on you !
The S1000RR - sorry, just do not like the look of it. And a mate had troubles with his - the throttle electronics sometimes just failed and came up with error codes - lots of grief.

So decided it is a keeper and will put miles on it - Santa Pod Run What You Brung this year and next year another European road trip to the lands of sunshine and twisty roads :)

Careful - your bike is about to be squished by a killer whale.

I can see you've got form with big puddles ! Never thought about where the inlets are - supposed them to be the two things either side of the headlights !

A black leather Revit glove - a bit amateurish getting the finger in front of the lens I know - hoped no one would notice !

Try using 3rd gear as a twist and go, way more engine braking and enough grunt to pick up through and out of bends.... Plus, you'll save money on brake pads...;)

Channel Islands, but my mum lives in the Isle of Wight - so I like to pop over during the summer.
