has anyone used the OHLINS TTX RT shock before ? Ive seen one on Ebay thats ex display and was wanting to know if it is any good. Ill most likely have to get a spring for my weight tho. Its a tos up if i am to go with some thing like this or just go for a top of the range K tech unit brand new but thats up at £1100 new Any suggestions
I had the same choice! the DDS lite Spring preload sucks so you need to go for the Pro and that's plenty of dollars, I opted for the TTX as it was the right price, it wasn't the latest GP as that's even more money, I can't comment on its performance as haven't done any testing. Also make sure it's had its recall for internal damper nut issue! you can either put the batch and part number into the Ohlins website and see if it's been done, or just see if it's been marked with a dot punch mark on the bottom mount...

So the SP has this as standard? not sure if thats a good thing lol as a rule of thumb anything standard on any bike seems not to be the real deal not that its not good just not the after market product ie brembo brakes on Suzuki's
The shock on the Sp is the proper ttx jobbie. Just with manual pre-load. So it's top notch. Shame they didn't match the shock with higher end ohlins forks!
Think you'll find both the shock and forks have less range of adjustment compared to the aftermarket versions! Hence why @Daznorthwest i believe put aftermarket cartridges in a set of sp forks he sold
Is it for a Blade? Im looking for a ZX10r shock. Do you know the spring rate? the one I have my eye on is a 110N/mm spring and I can make out what weight of rider that is
Yeh standard front and rear! In all fairness its a big improvement over stock, and least they made an effort to move the preload underneath so you can still make adjustments unlike the K Tech DDS lite!!! What were they thinking of, producing a unit that you have to take it out to adjust the preload! this only applys on the Honda due to the Unit Pro-Link system and the shock being situated in such a place the top is not accessible ....
To be honest the same might apply to the ZX when I spoke to the bloke on the phone he said i would have to get the pre load adjuster add on that moved it to a position you could actually get at which would add like 200 on the bill so you are actually better off with the one above it
You shouldn't have any such issues even with the DDS-Lite you can still make easy adjustments as its accessible, so you won't need to spend the extra dollars for remote preload adjuster! Unless your changing Spring rates on a regular basis it's pointless...
Very true there I've just clocked a Maxton shock on eBay without the remote adjuster as well so it can't be that important
You might be better off just banging in an offer on the one on eBay .... 110nm Spring so according to the spec 16/17 stone!!! I wouldn't read too much into that as I'm running the same Spring and I'm 13 fully wet! It's got a lot to do with suspension lineages and other parameters ....
That's the exact one I'm looking at the bloke said it was for a 13 stone rider. I literally know nothing about springs lol
So there around the same prices as I think your get the K Tech DDS-Lite without the spring preload adjuster for the same amount, so it just depends on if the Ohlins chap will take a low ball offer! You got nothing to loose, Ohlins springs are around £68 plus the vat so it's not a game changer. The only only thing I would say is the TTX36 mk2 has been superseded by the GP, But your be looking at even more money, The rebound and damping have far more superior control valves for better flow and rates. K Tech have good customer support....
