As you're all doubtless aware, the onboard storage of the RR4 is pretty laughable thanks to its underseat exhaust. Anything larger than a couple of packets of fags and you're stuffed. For days out this year I'm thinking of getting something that I can stuff a waterproof / spare gloves etc in. Does anyone have any recommendations? Would a tank bag be best or would I be better off with a tail pack?
Have a crack at Kreiga tail packs. US 10 should suffice for what you want. You can add to it later if you want and buy the US20 and then they clip together. Straps go underneath the seat. I have the US20 and used it everyday whilst working on the bike. Managed half a dozen pairs of gloves, waterproofs, can of tyre inflator, radios etc, and still space to take quilt out of jacket and throw that in as well. Totally waterproof, plus the inner is removable and washable. Managed a weekend in Scotland with only the US20 and an Oxford bum bag. Good kit and good value.
Ahhhh good idea! I think I've got a US10 somewhere in the garage. It came free with my Almax chain if I remember.
Kriega Tank Adapter is cheap and works well. I also have one of their bumbugs for non rain threatened days.
I'm sure I'm fairly local to you So If you want to have a look at my US 20 you're welcome to call over or meet up, but your 10 should be a nice size for you Bloody hell, that sounds a bit dodgy doesn't it.... "Hi Rich, come and have a look at my US20". Adam Johnson's in court at the moment for less
Hahaha!! Cheers, Nick. I've got the US10 cleaned up last night (didn't realise I've had a top-notch £60 bag sitting in the garage for 5 years gathering dust ). I'll take you up on that meet up once the weather warms up a bit. Be nice to have a ride out with some North Easterners. .........that's all I want, mind. I don't want a signed Sunderland shirt or any "digital penetration"
Problem solved. Thanks for the input, lads. I've never actually been there. Been past loads of times but never stopped. Do you get there much?
Sometimes nip in for brew on a morning after walking the dog, and nearly always meet there if meeting any mates for a rideout. They have a bike night on a Tuesday and are stacked out on a nice night. I've seen 100+ bikes on a nice summers Tuesday evening. Don't go every Tuesday as I hate to be labelled as being predictable Think it was 2010 that it won an MCN bike cafe of the year award. Nice staff, Nice owners.
I have an Oxford tail pack for sale: http://1000rr.co.uk/index.php?threads/Oxford-Humpback-Tailpack.26891/
Forgot to mention Rich, I normally put a bit of clear film over the back of my tail unit, just behind the seat. This is ever since my Kreiga tailpack moved a bit on the bike and scuffed the paint on my last blade. I suppose you could gaffa tape it but I just cut out some Blue Peter sticky back plastic and it looks neat and just protects the paint a bit.
Cheers Nick. I was going to get a bit of venture shield and put a little bit around the seat just to be sure.
