Is anybody able to give me an easy solution to this. I'm on an '09 & I have my Telferizer ram mount and cradle and have, to date just been using my tomtom from its own battery so tend to leave it switched off until I need it.

I have the power lead for the cradle but haven't a clue where to start to wire it.

I'm best described by many who know me as a Technological piece of toast.

This is a daft punt in case it's as simple as honda already having the prep for it in an obvious place.

If it's not really simple as in Janet & John simple I'll get it fitted when it goes in for its 12k service shortly.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Just looked at the tomtom site ( I've got garmin 590 ) and yes it's as simple as.
Just wire direct to the battery. Just take your time routing the cable but I found this very easy on my 2014 blade.

Thanks for info. Deffo an option, however, that would mean permanent power wouldn't it. I was hoping there might be an easy one that is live with the ignition.

I have a Garmin too, wired to the battery and cable routed under the tank with it connected to the mount on my RAM stem mount. Yes it's always live but doesn't really matter as I'll always take my satnav off when off the bike.

Failing that you could wire the live to your rear light (or many others switched lives).

Thanks guys, with my limited ability looks like that's the way forward for me, and yes, of course you're right, I'm never going to be leaving the bike with sat nav on.
I take it the mount draws no power if the sat nav is not on it?

No, it's just the same as leaving your battery charge lead connected to the battery. Unless there's something connected to it drawing current it won't take anything from the battery.

I wouldn't recommend just connecting peripheral devices up to the wiring of other systems on any vehicle, the wiring that is used to power whatever systems in that circuit are only rated to run the stock systems adding more current draw than the wiring is rated for can cause all sorts of issues from but not limited to blown fuses, melted wiring and even fires!

On my old zumo 550 I fitted an inline dc power plug ( the same as Gerbing heated gear ) about six inches from the mount. You get to your destination and remove the whole kit and caboodle, easy.
If you go this route just use the female end of the plug on the lead that's left on the bike and fit a spare male end filled with silicone as a weatherproof plug.

Nice one thanks. That sounds quite a realistic option for my ability. Will stick an in line 3a fuse on it as well.

Just run a cigarette lighter adaptor or similar. I used a relay kit switched from the ignition via the rear brake. All in all under 30 mins work.

Wire it into the 20a lights fuse on the back of the fuse box under the seat, just make sure you fit an inline fuse. Just fitted an Ultimate addons charger with USB for sat nav, phone actually anything with a USB, protects against over current and will shut off should the battery become low. since this is wired into the ignition unless the bike charging fails then should not be an issue.

Thank you for your responses. I really am a technological piece of toast so was looking at a real Janet & John option.

Anyway, problem solved. Bike is booked into local dealership next week for 12,000 service so it's getting done then.

    Thanks people.

I use an adapter that plugs into my charging lead for my optimate. It then let's u use a USB cable to run up the bike to the tomtom.

    It's an actual optimate accessory.
