Your best bet if keeping an eye on the £ is to speak to mark aka Yorkshire Gooner on here and see if he is able to supply a pair of brand new or nearly new oem disks.
I stick with standard pads and never had a problem and last better than all the aftermarket ones I've tried
Message biker discount store on here they will sort you a good deal on brake lines. Probably cheaper than the standard and better than standard.
Just reading through again, definitely what SPS said At your mileage the discs should be absolutely fine (unless warped) Give em a good service ie free up bobbins, clean up the surfaces and scrape out the crud in the holes.
I might take a picture of them tomorrow an post it up here... They have a small lip on the outside edge, but running your fingers down them they feel, rippled.. Um, grooves or lines at higher and lower points through the disc area till you reach the inside edge where the bobbins are... An there was still that noise under hard breaking... I have shorty Pazzo's on and a 2 fingers stop, and they make a vee.. vee.. vee.. noise that gets slower as you reduce speed, and as i have said, there not as good as other brakes on previous bikes I've had. My Gixer k5 600 brakes were way better, my SV1000S brakes were lovely. The blades brakes were ok when i got her July 2013, but since then, hmm. Not as good I'm 100% for sure! (headache) ugh i just don't know.. (scratches head)...
Think you be wasting your money on the discs! you better off giving them a clean and service! If you want to upgrade your be better off fitting Brembo RCS new lines and better pads! job done.....
Brake Lines from BDS...An look what arrived Friday, their so purdyy.... Couldn't say no at THAT price.... Just need a rear disc an pads, but my god slim pickings... I know its not that important but wondered what a good budget disc was that won't warp? Viper, Armstrong, Black Diamond.. Seen a Brembo disc for £60.. And, do SBS do pads for the rear?
Oooh they do look lovely, would match the rear galfer I just fitted nicely. Is that mounting holes for the ABS ring I can see on one of the discs? SBS do rear pads, fitted front and rears but not tried them yet.
Think i found a listing for the rear sbs pads, just checking as info was conflicting. Yes the Street Excel's came with many recommendations here, so may as well match the front! Just not sure i want to pay £92.00 on a rear Galfer disc!!!...
The rear pads are 834LS,got them from simmiperformance on eBay for £21. Calsport will do you a rear disc for £78 delivered, that's where I got mine.
Hi are thse disc any good or is it worth saving for the brembo's http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motor...e/ebc-brakes-brake-disc-x-series-contour-disc
Black shadow discs are utter shite. Avoid. Brembo ORO series discs is what I would be buying, with Brembo SC pads or SBS RS pads. Change the lines and fluid on a 6yr old bike regardless of mileage. I have a pair of OE discs that have done about 1,000 miles that I might let go for the right price.
