I seem to be getting a little puddle under the lhs swing arm. It seemed to appear overnight after I rode up to cadwell and was dripping a bit in the morning when I got there from the hotel. It stopped after the first session, but then started again after it had cooled down at lunch. Seems to be very slight and it looks like pure water. No signs of overheating or anything yet (but it is cold!!) Any ideas where it might be coming from? Seems a long way from the radiator?!
Is there a smell/taste to the water. If it's coolant it will have a sweet taste to it. Not that I'm saying drink the stuff just a dab on the tongue. Could be an overflow pipe that is not directed properly
Sounds like the expansion tank overflow. When the bike is on the sidestand it leans toward the overflow pipe. Check the pipe is still intact
Thanks for the relplies - going to lift the tank and dig a little. The water is completely odourless and tasteless. One thing that confuses me a little is that the service manual shows two overflow pipes stick out the bottom and I can only see 1... Wonder if that's relevant to a 2015?
Pretty sure 1 is a breather pipe, and the other is an overflow pipe. They both go to opposite sides of the bike. Ie the breather to the RHS as you sit on the bike, and the other down the LHS of the bike into the belly pan.
Ok thanks. Everything looks right under the tank (although hoses seem squished like hell in there). Can't see any obvious problems with the expansion tank connections. Will see if it continues. If it does, I'll probably bite the bullet and take it in to the pros. Maybe they'll look at it as warranty investigation work (although chances are it's something I did when I fitted the quickshifter)
Could just be a collection of water from when washing the bike on say a paddock stand and then when tilted over on the side stand to rest you can then get a puddle.
Could be I suppose! Probably panicking about nothing. Let's hope so anyway, getting further from home by the second...
Condensation from exhaust joint ?? Anyway does not matter if not oil, coolant or fuel the bike is not bleeding so all good.
Agreed! Seems to have stopped somewhere between london and Ypres anyway. Oh and for the repsol wheel ocd types...
