I'm not to far, I live just north of nottingham. But I ride around Melton, Market Harborough and stamford most weekends.
Hi Hondo, tell me more about this Linc's TT road and the meeting place at Willinham Woods, when do bikers meet there and where is it?
Good afternoon Blade 1980, My parent used to live in Horncastle, the house at the end of the ship car park.
Your parents lived in Horncastle mate? And you don't know Willingham Woods? Tonight is bike night as is every Wednesday night. If you ever fancy going there via the twistiest and wicked roads in Lincolnshire, you can meet us at Sleaford one day. Here is Willingham Woods: http://www.bikersmeets.com/County%20Pages/Lincolnshire/meets/willingham%20woods/willingham%20woods.htm On a Sunny Wednesday night, there will be hundreds of bikes there. Cafe, burgers and great roads to get there.
From South Derbyshire and also do this run, with a bit of Bourne/Uppingham action chucked in as well. Also interested in the LIncoln TT route. (Pm maybe?)
I agree with hondo, we often go to via willi woods on a wednesday night, the road between horncastle and market rasen is a great road as is the one between wragby and market rasen, scratchers paradise!
Horncastle to Market rasen via bardsley and wragby is a good route... Lots of 90degree bends, it's a bit flat though. Melton to Market harborough, then Uppingham to Stamford, to Bourne, to colsterworth and back to Melton is a great 85 mile loop. Seems to be a few of us in the area... We should get a rideout together starting in Melton one weekend.
Might take you up on that? My brother rides a R1 and knows Horncastle well, unlike me he grew up there so Ill ask him?
I'm up for that, however, I may not be quick enough for you guys? Early forties slows you down a bit on the twisty bits, lol
I'm sure you can keep up with a late 40's guy. You have a fireblade, they are not meant to pootle about with.
Yep. My favourite is Woodhall Spa to Bardney via Stixwold and Bardney Bends. Fantastic TT style roads. Then Bardney to Wragby, fast and furious. Then Wragby to Market Rasen and Willingham. Fantastic roads and I know what I'm talking about coz I come from Snowdonia originally. We should have a blade meet, say at Sleaford and work our way to Willingham and back via some of the best twisties in England.
Went tonight with a couple of mates. Great ride, great weather. At one point though, doing slightly over the speed limit.....cough cough, got hit by a bird. Luckily missed helmet but hit my shoulder. It was like a boxers punch and nearly had me off. Stupid bird. It won't be doing that again.
I agree, will be nice to get out with a few different people. Everyone I u sually ride with is packing it in or pleading poverty.
