Don't put your legs against the grips I found on the net that stompgrips can ruin your leathers but they give the most grip. The eazi grips give less grip but are more friendly your leathers. because my leathers ruin the clear coat on my tank cover I ordered the eazi grips last week. protects my tankcover, gives some grip and good for my leathers, best compromise I guess.
interesting, my RST's have worn a bit now on my knee area where they grab the stompsgrips, do the Spidi have some reinforcement there to stop that then? I am on the market for some new leathers, so if they dont wear at all they sound good for me?
No extra reinforcement on the Spidi's In my best diplomatic/non condescending voice........................ RST are budget entry leathers!
some BSB racers wear them though including TT riders and the Lowes Brothers, do the spidi's have thicker leather or what makes them stronger there? I dont mind paying for Spidi's as are about the same price? £600? or are you taking about more expensive? Can you gimme a link to the ones you have please, I would love some that dont wear out with stopmgrips
Not gonna argue about the budget price but they're definitely not entry level. Have had stompgrips on my 600rr and now my blade and after nearly 8 years my RST leathers still look great. Can't say theres any noticeable wear on my textiles either that's caused by the stompgrips.
yeah but Stompgrips grip better than Tech specs snake skin, so all depends how much "grip to wear" you want/need? Plus can you get tech spec in clear?
Nope they only come in black, I've always hated the clear ones haha. It's like anything I guess, comes down to personal preferences and there are always compromises. I've always had Techspecs and have found them to be plenty grippy enough and still comfortable if you want to wear jeans instead of leathers.
May be a silly idea but could you get some leather patches sewn on to affected areas and then just replace the patch each season or when required to keep it all looking tidy?
I've seen jase's wear through on an off in the pissing rain.... I mean right through the leathers on the arse in a very little slide - wouldn't touch spidi's after that. Seen guys batter rst's no problem. You might not be getting wear as v's time on bike and type of riding, road riding would see more rubbing? Plus everyone is different size and sits on bike different, rides different etc etc etc My berik's which have taken a pounding (but never worn through in a few big offs) have rubbed and dis coloured on the knee a little.... As said, maybe best to try a different type as i think it's inevitable sometimes with stomp grips. But I'd rather a small patch on me leathers than wear than the paint on the tank! For track though, couldn't care less just need the grip. Got to weigh up priorities IMO
I haven't check on here since late afternoon yesterday, as I thought no one had any idea's. I was thinking where’s the GAFFER but seriously thank you for your riot of comments, very appreciated. I have thick strong winter full grain leathers and a slimmer set for summer but sorry all I have done to sort the problem is to iron out a couple of the stomps. They still grip very well and my problem is solved.
