Got this bad boy delivered from Italy today. RCS 17 with Brembo master cylinder kit. Ordered from Carpi Moto Saturday and delivered today, great service and price. Going on an SP with HEL hoses. Beautiful piece of kit, might just put in a glass case and stare at it.
Worked out at €288 to the door or about £220 in English money. Advised by Brembo to go for the 17 due to the smaller pistons in the calipers., will give better feel.
SP has M4s with 32 and 30mm pistons, the same size in fact as the OEM callipers, OEM master is 17.5mm! When people change to 19mm they get a firmer lever given that the piston is bigger. A piston smaller than 17.5mm would give more power but more travel and less feel, it's all about ratios.. The formula you need is: MC Piston Area i.e. Area of a circle =(3.1416 x piston diameter squared)/4 Master / Slave = Ratio For example: Standard M4 monoblocks 34mm 7263.4 / 283.53 = 25.6:1 ratio. Nice ratio. Modulation Characteristics: 30:1 - soft 27:1 - sweet spot 23:1 - firm 20:1 - wooden
Well, build quality and fulcrum, I.e pivot point, don't know what OEM is off hand but you can change the RCS from 18 to 20mm, 18 for race and 20 for road..
