I don't get much time to get out drinking so after being nagged for the last 2 weeks i agreed to welcome in the new year down town . I knew i had not drunk for a while and it was not going to take much for me to be drunk so i planned on pacing my self till the countdown , have a 2012 beer and sneak of home with out anybody noticing Well i can remember the first 4 pints of Strongbow and what i think was a glass of red bull with a shot glass of a dark spirits in the middle and i remember chomping down 2 cheese burgers out side the nightclub at 5.00am and getting in a taxi to come home . Yes it got a bit crazy . Yesterday my head was turning inside out . I honestly thought i was going to die !!! seriously !. I tried to get on the forum but my head was banging and i could not concentrate on the bright screen. I survived the day after and got an early night for work today which was horrible as i was tired and had a small headache all day , not a unbearable headache but enough to be annoying all day . Now its 8.00pm 2 days later and my head is still BANGING !! really feel like crap. SO .. Whats your cure ? Anybody have a routine that prevents the pain ? Softens the hangover ? Or ends it faster than just riding it out ?? Lets hear your secrets coz i swear the older i get the worse the hangovers are !! ha ha
I think that is what the problem is actually mate . I cant remember the last time i went out drinking . Im pretty sure it was last january as snow cancelled our xmas do in work so we had it at the end of january when we got paid . Maybe I'm so rough with it coz my body is not used to the amount of alcohol ..
Water mate, your just dehydrated but a decent amount of anadin or similar will also help. Then it's comfort food and another beer, trust me it takes the edge off, just a little bottle does the world of good
Sounds likely mate. Best idea is to just get some grub in the stomach, then drink as much water as you can to flush the system. Apart from that mate nothing more than a couple of pain killers and a Kip in the bed.
Yep, it's dehydration, Dan. The alcohol suppresses the kidneys ability to process fluids properly and passes them straight through your system. Hence you seem to piss more than you drink. Then the membrane around your brain starts to shrink through lack of hydration and the headache kicks in. Rehydration after the event don't help much. Water during boozing offsets it a bit. I swear by Codeine and Paracetamol combined and loads and loads of water to try and kickstart a normal metabolism. And a duvet day.
Im on some super painkillers for my back which are helping . Oxycontin . I done the Duvet day yesterday ... Im just shocked i still feel hungover at the end of the day after the day after lol
Pint of water & 2x paracetamol and ibuprofen before you go to bed On waking, get a pint of squash inside you & more pain killers. Have a shower & get some food inside you, with a strong coffee with a couple of sugars. Roll around on the sofa for a couple of hours feeling sorry for yourself, then a fried egg & bacon sarnie. McDonalds or pizza for tea to carb it up. Job's a good'un
Nice spicy food does it for me. Not that I have hangover problems, much to the annoyance of Mrs b, I as a few have already mentioned try and match my water intake. Keeps the old grey matter hydrated
It's the combination of the drugs that matters. An aspirin and an opiate attacks pain signals being transmitted and pain signals being received. OxyContin is definitely an opiate, but I don't know if there's an aspirin type in it. I'd be loathe to mix it without proper advice as its pretty strong, but for future reference try cocodamol.
It does not mate ,For long term use the Doctors put me on the oxycontin because it has no Asprin and therefore better for my liver . My dad has a stash of cocodamol thou that i can pinch ... Cheers Ken
seconded - a barocca if you can before you bed down after a big one will take the edge right off. I also advocate a beer the next day - just the one - which will remove that banging headache
Keep well hydrated before you go out, use milk thistle daily it keeps your liver toxin free so it's a more efficient organ when you flood it with alcohol it only has that to deal with and not everything else to. Then the next day re hydrate your self as quickly as possible.
