Hi, Any known problems with the ABS on this bike, I know the previous model has suffered some problems but does it apply to 2012 onwards.
Plenty of info on here if you do a search - e.g. http://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/imp...d-if-you-own-an-abs-2009-onwards-model.11881/ People have had issues with the later models as well.
Got a call from a Honda dealer trying to tempt me with a 2014 ABS blade (Norton Way Honda). When I mentioned the ABS concerns he scoffed and said it was "bar talk" and they'd never had or experienced the issue. Just goes to show that some dealerships are still denying the issue.
Look Honda need to get there fingers from up their arses and start bringing a bike out with electronics as I see it they are now bottom if the pile.bmw,Yamaha,Suzuki ,kwak ,apprilla need I say more.when I joined here a few years ago most peeps rode Honda fact it is a Honda forum but give a look at how many have changed bikes to another manufacture frightening .if Honda don't bring new model with all the gizmos next year there will be a lot less on here.it does not take away from a great bunch of lads on here but it's plain to see Honda are lagging as c-abs is not the be all too electronics on that mite I am going to purchase a r1m
I like no rider aids! Simple... Old school but with confidence that I know the limit of my ability and the bikes... You only have to look at BSB and how they ditched the electronics to make it more exciting and being more down to the riders abilities... I mean come on !!!! 6 axis drift control ...Traction settings, Power settings ABS anti wheely..... Bah you can keep the lot! We are just breeding a new type of rider who will only be able to ride due to all the electronics trickery... And we all know what happens if a small part of that system doesn't work and goes tits up....
Quite true I wonder how many moto GP riders could live with the likes of swantz rainy Doohan Gardner in there days yes it would be a truer assessment of the rider but if it saves lives then I am all for it think about how many riders at tt would not have lost there lives if only been out then
I personally think that in a few years time 2014/15 blades will become collectable purely on the basis that they are/were the best non electric bikes available. I say this as an owner of a Tuono APRC ( which has some of the best electrics going ). Do I need those electrics, NO, because I learned to ride a bike properly, something that future generations won't be able to do due to computer controlled bikes.
Only rider aid I wanted was ABS just in case of any "oh shit" moments That's why I opted for the C-ABS because it was a blade I always wanted as I believed it was the best bike of the lot with no electronic gizmos. Although I have had no issues with my 2012 I am now very aware of the problems and unless Honda adopt another system my next purchase is likely to be the BMW.
I too believed this when I bought my 13 Plate ABS Blade. Soon found out how wrong I was! I now have the best, maybe only 'Analogue' Road Bike left on the market with a fully reliable working ABS in a GSXR1000!
There has been lots of reports /comments on the problems associated with the honda abs but I, myself, have not had any. I owned a 2012 abs with no issues but hubby experienced them on the same bike. I have now opted for a 2015 abs version and love it, still no issues. Any comments on me been girl rider will receive a rough comment in return btw
Thought I was the odd one out with having no issues with the abs system my 15 plate blade from new. Early days maybe ? But made Very aware of what can happen thanks to this forum. I have to add some praise to the blades c-abs system, as when needed, it works very well. Only downside I have is the cost to maintain when due for brake fluid change and The lack of brake pressure feedback through the lever, I wasn’t bothered about the extra 10kg the system adds to the blades weight as my body weight fully biked up is less than 75kgs. Would I buy another blade with c-abs? Based on my experience so far, than Yes, For long term ownership with peace of mind, Then No.
When I was looking for my bike I went into my local dealer ( Newcastle Honda ) but they only had the abs model. I mentioned that I didn't want an abs they also said that the issues were just rumours and that it was all based on one bike and the rest were just sheep ! I pointed him to the issues online but he wouldn't have it. Needless to say I bought a non abs elsewhere.
Must say this was basically my experience with my 14 blade. As someone who rarely uses the back brake I found the way the blade applied the back brake a bit disconcerting at first but soon got used to it. But.....after reading all the negatives on this forum I found every time I braked from speed I was braking slightly earlier than I normally would in case the lever came back to the bar. It never did. I also realised that I naturally tended to apply the brakes then release and re- apply ( I think this came from cadence braking when I was racing ). Anyway, as I say, for me I had no problems at all apart from the total trust needed in a brake system. Luckily I decided I wanted a bike with a bit more "soul" before I got to the expensive brake bleed so swapped for a Tuono APRC which has the favoured brembo/ Bosch system.
