I was expecting the voltage to be a little more stable? Although im more used to cars than bikes. I also thought anything over 15V was basically overcharging??
Haynes manual states 15.5v@5000rpm My voltage changes are almost the same as yours but about 0.5v higher across the board, but I have a brand new battery, stator and reg/rec. At idle putting the indicators, lights, horn etc will make it dip. unless you're exceeding 15.5v I'd see how it goes.
OK thanks, iv just run it up to 95 degrees and took the following: 13.2 battery cold 14.8 cold fast idle 12.8 hot idle 12.6 hot idle main beam on 2k rpm 14.1 v 5k rpm 14.7 v Hot resistance 0.5 through the reg rec where it needs to be. I can't decide if I'm being paranoid or not Haha. Seeing the idle voltage is a little worrying but it's steady and jumps the second you touch the throttle. None of the wiring or plugs are getting hot.
Cheers mate I put it back together, took her for a run jut now, all seems fine. 15 miles and all was forgiven haha
Is all okay,?..... keep an eye on your battery for a short while.... make sure its not cooking, you should be good. Mike.
Yep all appears good thanks! All connections cool, battery cool, no acid smell, no bump starts. Ill check it all again in a few weeks as service is due so ill dig out the multimeter.
