Don't seem to having much luck finding a nice Blade,(can't seem to twist Rocket's arm to part with his:p) so I'm contemplating something else, I've seen a nice black ZX10R (09 model) 5500 miles and standard , but I have also seen a nice big bang R1 also an 09 plate also black with the matt black bits, this has got 8k on the clock and comes with a few extras ASV's Akro's even though it's over a grand more than the kwak I'm more drawn to the R1 any thoughts? :)

Having owned a 2012 ZX10R, I'll say that its mental after 9000rpm, and the sound is awesome. But, it'll kill your wrists, as the bars are quite low, for the race position. The tank is quite wide too, and because of its shape, I found it quite hard to grip onto.

Always liked the Big Bang, which has a equally great sound. But, they're really wide at the nose end, when you sit on it, and it put me off. I'd try a perservere with the hunt for a good blade. I'd have the blade over the Kwak personally.

Cheers pal, I did have a 2014 ZX10r and found the same that's why I've been looking at the 08-09 shape, as for the R1 never had a Yamaha, I've only had a go on a 99 model and found it fine, but I suppose the big bang one is a totally different thing.

If I were going to chop in the Blade, I'd go looking for either an S1000RR, Z1000 or K1300S

Jkaye, as U know I too also had a 2014 ZX10R (Gen 4) and tbh I found it more comfortable than the 2013 Blade I had.
I also ran a 2010 ZX10R on Track (Gen 3) which is the same model as the 2009 U R looking at!
Great Track Tool but not a great Road Bike.

I have now bought a Gen 5 for Track use only, but more importantly regarding your thread is I have also bought a 2016 GSXR1000.

Best Road Bike I have ever ridden by far, comfy as, brill torquey motor, best gear box EVER and cheap as chips at the mo due to the new one coming out in 4-5 months or so.

Buy one matey, U won't be disappointed!

Now sorted, thanks for the advice Sinewave, I know I've gone against advice , but I have gone and bought a pre registered 09 ZX10r that didn't leave the showroom until 2014 and has only got 2.5k on it, I'll get some pics up later ;)

Have to say riding the Big Bang R1 it is a plush and well planted bike.

Suspension quality is top notch and the brakes were good. Add in the engine noise and it feels a little bit special.

Low point were the fueling/ride around town. Basically it acted like a big V-Twin juddering and slapping the chain around unless you were in 1st or 2nd gear (though u soon learn how to ride round this problem).

Other issue was that your perception of speed was way out. I found myself doing 30 mph when I was actually doing 60 mph and that is no exaggeration (could easily add points to the license)

Biggest issue though is the rate at which it drinks fuel at. 90 miles to the light would soon see you royally pissed off if on anything more than a Sunday blast.
