With my 11 plate blade The abs would go wrong at slow speeds Ie through traffic filtering But also the abs light would be flashing
Yeah it's not............even with the fuses pulled out you are still having to go thru the electronic abs system. The feeling/resistance you get when pull in a brake lever is created by what Honda call a stroke simulator and not by the fluid pushing against the calipers as in other abs systems like Bosch and non abs equipped bikes!
So what you saying, that even if I pull the fuse out I still might experience lever going to the bar. I bought this blade not for abs but I thought it would a benefit and at the moment as my first track this year coming I must have it tested somehow to bump my confidence which I have lost after reading this forum or disable it somehow so doesn't interfere. I'm also considering selling this one and keeping my rr7.
I did take me bike for the spin today, as I have track day coming up and I don't want to find out that the brakes fail. I did take for about 2h ride to try the brakes and I couldn't replicate any of the issues described here. I did try filtering through the traffic, heating the brakes and hard braking from high speeds but I wasn't able to get symptoms of the lever going back to the bar. Question is could I trust these brakes or not and does this happened randomly? There will be more riding at weekend.
My stance on the abs fitted to the blade and baby blades throughout this current generation (2010+) is pretty obvious from my previous posts and my endeavours in being one of the first folks with @ColinBR to openly publish and attempt to do a full abs system removal! Long story short the system is IMHO a flawed prototype that Honda pushed into production and although there are many folks saying 'oh my abs bikes never given me any issues!'............But in the same breath say they don't want to have anyone mess with the system including carrying out the recommended service scheduled brake bleed for fear it will start to give them issues....... Does that sound like they fully trust the system themselves???
My mate he is master technician at Honda. He is a really good mechanic. I spoke with him yesterday and he said that abs is prone to failure if there is an air in the system. They had this on brand new blade and a fluid flush and bleeding have sort the problem out. He is not a salesman in Honda. He will be flashing my brakes as well so we will see how it goes after that. So far I can't complain about abs.
Seriously I fukin give up........did you even read the post? naw naw the c-abs system is minted Honda done an excelent job, it's the berries of a system, every bike should have this system fitted! The very fact a Honda tech comes out with the words "abs is prone to failure if........" In any sentence is scary enuff but yet you still think the system is all good? Air in the system was not the cause of all the modulator, ecu and valve unit changes done under warranty or the fact Honda try and tweak the ecu every year since its release!
You can give up if you want. I have read the whole thread. I'm not sure if we have read it. It says it is a prone to failure if there is a an air in the system. Quite normal for any hydraulic system as far as I know. Secondly, so far I haven't experience any problembs with my abs and I will get the fluid changed so we will what is going to happened than. If it doesn't work I will remove the abs.
Spoke to my local Honda dealer (Bob Minion) in Derby and he openly admitted the issue on some bikes. He said he sold a bike recently that had the issue once and the modulator was replaced under warranty and the system bled. The buyer never had the issue again. Credit to Bob Minion for admitting the issue. He was spot on when explaining how the issue arises as well - he said it happened when filtering in hot traffic or being stationary for a long period (all heat related). He said the modulator sits behind the down pipes and this causes the issue. He said feathering the brake lever resolves the issue if it occurs.
It's prone to failure if you 1. Try to use it twice without a cool-down between. 2. Use it in an emergency 3. feather the brakes 4. random occurrences when it feels like it. Just to fsck you off.
