Finally finished the exhaust last night, got all the fairings back on and a quick clean ready for an all Japanese car and bike show today. Sun was out, perfect day for it. Loving the new exhaust, bike just needs a tune and I'll be all good to go.
Finally fitted the PC5. While i am at, I may as well rip the PAIR system out. I don't have any block off plates, coz am cheap, so will duct tape over the holes be ok as a seal??
Nope you'll need plates because as soon as the engine gets hot the glue on the tape will melt and you'll have crap getting into the engine! Plates are £22 off eBay so not expensive compared to a possible repair
Rode it to a petrol station, filled it up, rode it to get a bacon sarnie, rode it home and lubed the chain.
Hi, Does your bike have the non ABS model rear hugger fitted to a ABS blade? Any problems with the guard touching the under tray.
Stripped radiator off to get better access to a broken exhaust stud, so while it was off decided to fit new hoses and engine covers
Yeah mate it does. It's fairly close but I haven't had any issues with them touching. I mounted it with some rubber spacers to give it a little flex if they do ever come together. The plastic that the short hugger is made from is fairly flexible anyway, not sure how you would go with a carbon fibre one or one of the bigger huggers though.
Got some Ti side stand bolts made up. A nice little touch for the bike which will be hidden. I have a drilled Ti nut to finish them off too.
Nothing to the bike this week but bought myself a new set of RST Blade leathers from J&S in Manchester but I did pat the tank this morning whilst in the garage
Brembo RCS17 Fitted. Not so much what I've done but a very good guy called Russ at Bolton Motorcycle Workshop. Featured a few times in PB. So Brembo rcs 17, Hel black hoses all round ,Ti disc bolts and caliper bolts. I had bought Ti banjo bolts believing the threads on the Brembos to be 1.00, turned out to be 1. 25. Really pleased with results, not the best weather to test the difference in braking setup but is quality kit. Russ is very knowledgeable based in Belmont not far from Rivington Barn. If you need someone to look after your blade or other bike I can recommend Russ.
Changed my OEM disc to some brembo Oros, nothing bling but a serious improvement. Got my OEMs below 3mm!! and managed to warp them enough to make my ABS throw a wobbly couple of miles later and bedded in makes the OEM feel like swiss cheese coated in teflon. Just shows how you adapt your riding the quality/state of the parts!
