hi guys, just wondering if I fit a 60 degree quick action throttle, am I likely to find it a liability on the road? Is a qat really only useful on track?

Never had issue with any I fitted on the road... you sharp adjust to it and it becomes natural again as long as you haven't got the dexterity of a gorilla....

Cheers Carter. I'm a bit worried that all free play in the throttle is lost and it becomes like an on off switch.

Depends on how good your throttle control is. If you're ham fisted with a standard throttle a quick action is only going to amplify the problem. I had a motion pro on my 09 CBR and really liked it but I had to be smoother with my roll on from completely off throttle. Also made wheelies a bit harder to control.

Yeah, can't say I have the delicacy of a racer...but I wanted to be able to open full throttle without contorting my wrist back on itself. I assume a shorter action might take away this issue?

    Yep, that's the idea.

Having sought some advice on the forum regarding the HRC QAT, I've just had one fitted and love it. It's exactly what I was after, no loss of manageability at slow speed (from closed throttle etc) but allows access to full throttle in one easy wrist turn. Looking forward to using it on track.

Blade you've convinced me! Could you tell me what kind of cost to get it fitted? How many hours labour?

I have an Accossato one on mine and find it a big improvement, I did try an HRC one but didn't find that big an improvement to be honest

Labour was two hours. Believe it's a bit of a pain gaining access to fit the cables. As others have said, I'm sure there are more aggressive QAT options available out there, but for what I wanted, which quite simply was full throttle in one movement (for track benefit) whilst retaining ease of use from closed throttle on the road. It ticks the boxes.

A good option if you're not 100% sure about it is to get a MotionPro revolver QAT. They have interchangeable reels in them so you can change the throttle action. They give you four reels from super quick to only just slightly quicker than standard. Takes about two minutes to swap the reels.

I'm a roads man only and the super aggressive qat is what I'm wary of. Like you say, I really just want to be able to open my throttle in one easy movement. I've never heard of motion pro before so that's another option I'll need to examine. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Accossato teflon quick action throttle CNC with cables

The stock throttle is a 1/4th turn which is 90 degrees of rotation from full close to full open. The HRC 1/6th kit is 60 degrees of rotation.

The Accossato Diameters are 37 / 40 / 43 mm etc. different ratio wheels. Standard is between 35 and 37mm, depends on the bike.

For example ( here with SCM Quick Action Throttle ):

Cam Designation/// Reel diameter (mm)/// Full throttle angle (degrees)/// Cable draw (mm)/// increase in throttle response vs OEM

    OEM/// 35/// 69/// 21.07/// 0%
    57/45/// 39/// 62/// 21.07/// 11%
    57/49/// 43/// 56/// 21.07/// 23%
    57/53/// 47/// 51/// 21.07/// 34%
    57/55/// 49/// 49/// 21.07/// 40%

Also, you can not compare the HRC with the Accossato. The Accossato build quality and the flexibility ( Reel diameter etc. ) are much better than the plastic HRC. product.

The Teflon coating of the slide tube allows precise dosing at the lowest possible friction - even the tiniest throttle movements are implemented. The smooth throttle cables can be combined to achieve the desired ratio with an included three eccentric. Complete kit with all mounting parts for use in place of the series gas handle.

Think i have the Domino on mine. Lots of this brand on track.
Last bike i had the Active3 QAT, that comes with 3 different size reels, so easy to find the one that works best for you.

Another one for accossato here. Featherlight cables so no drag and a choice of cams though I only use the one as I'm lazy lol
