Hi guys, does anyone ride with their main beam on? I've got a 2015 bike and I hate the fact that only 1 light comes on. Does keeping the beam on have any negative effect on the light lens? Cheers
Tbh I wouldn't ride round with main beam on as you could be held accountable if someone has an incident due to being dazzled by you
Only time I occasionally put main beam on is in heavy filtering when the gaps are tight & lots of lorries about
I don't, I quite often over take another bike and think there flashing me but there riding with full beam on. Anyways you can't see the front of the bike when your riding it!?
Cheers guys. All valid points. I also put the beam on during filtering especially on the motor way but not for regular riding. But I'm all about aesthetics and equilibrium. I could do with another exhaust on the other side too lol
I do agree though I prefer both lights on. The first thing the other half said when she saw the bike was "you've got a light out!"
It's illegal..........but riding on main beam does seem to neutralise the invisible cloak of a motorcyclist.
GS riders round here seem to be permanently on main beam complete with touratechs to ensure they fully dazzle you before they burn out your retinas. Personally I only do so on very rare occasions on some single track roads near home, and the odd nsl single carriage way with some iffy junctions.
two dipped beam were taken from new bike for safety reasons, as at night you tend to look like a car far away due to the lights being so close together, I would just increase the power of your single dipped bulb to an LED or Xeon if i where you mate, my LED is so much brighter then my old blade one was, worth a try.
There are some nice angeleye kits including casings on flea bay. But I'm guessing the wiring will need to be changed in order to have both on at the same time. Too much freaking hassle. Might look into a light smoke headlight protector. That way I should be able to run full beam without dazzling peeps
I have just looked at a spare set of front lights I have and I see the problem, there is only a single filament bulb in each light ,so dip is one light, say left one and high beam turns on the right one which I guess is set to point higher than the left one. Easiest solution would be to find a twin filament bulb,,i take it there is none that will fit, otherwise it would be too easy. Or drill a hole and put a second bulb in the high beam light to make both lights work on dip.
There's another thread on this where you can buy a separate loom to reduce the voltage going to the beam. It's a bypass which you can switch off and return to stock from the beam switch. Gonna try that I reckon.
yes I have seen this, but sometimes there is a workshop way to get around a problem,,maybe with a weaker single filament bulb in the aswell you will get two illuminated lights on dip. I will try and show you the results,,oh dear..lol
