What's the advantage of having short lever's or is it just a blingy type thing when I had my suspension set up by jhs racing he said the worst mod you can do to a bike is put short lever's on
Not sure why he said that but from a personal preference I've always liked the shorties. However when I bought the Blade it came modded with a short brake but long clutch asv's!
That's the way my road bike is setup, it's the best of both options imh. Got the extra length to allow better purchase on the clutch side so traffic stops are not straining only two fingers, but for brakes the shorter lever gives decent feedback as well as the looks.
I do wonder why peeps pay good money for brembo master cylinders and then lose a load of leverage by sticking a short lever on.
I used a shorty ASV on the clutch side of my blade ( for sale if anyone's after one ). As I use one finger on brake and two on the clutch I found my fingers were getting caught under the oem clutch. Must say the blade clutch action was by far the worst of all the twenty plus bikes I've owned.
How many Moto GP bikes / BSB bikes / WSB bikes can you find running shorty levers? Answer: none. Why is that?
Don't modify my bikes unless it needs it, rad guard etc. The blade needed a shorty lever for me. If you look closely at the racers you'll find the majority could you shorties if they wanted to. Choice.
That's a choice. Racers choose NOT to for obvious reasons. Less leverage. Do whatever makes the fuck you happy
How many friends fingers do you use when you pull on the levers? I only use two and generally only need two. I come from a dirt bike background and always found it beneficial to still have two fingers wrapped around the bars, do as not to pinch them I always ran shorty levers. You can pull a stoppie braking with two fingers, how much more leverage do you need?
I just put ASV long on mine, think I should have got short as I only ever use two fingers on brake and clutch (another former motocross rider as RazorBlade said). I just cant seem to adjust the clutch lever to the right place so that it fully disengages without crushing my other two fingers....
Had some short CRGs a few years back and didnt like them at all. Had long ones since, Brembo brake and a Harris clutch last bike. This one 2014 Blade, has the stock ones on as i find them perfect for the job and pretty much think the RCS is a jip. Nothing at all wrong with stock MC and levers. Unless it a 'look' thing, then change them
