I'm looking to get my rear shock rebfurbed/upgraded, as I was having a look at it today, to assess how difficult removal would be, I noticed that on the end of the gold part at the top, I have what looks like a gold tyre valve cap. Every picture I can find shows a flat black plastic looking cap, and even if I'm just missing the cap, the gold valve looking thing wouldn't fit under it. Any thoughts anyone?

It does not sound like its standard, possibly been refurbed in the past.

Yeah that's what I thought, but looking at how far it sticks out, there's no way the black cap would fit. The cap is flush with the end of the gold bit, my dust cap thingy sticks out quite a bit.

Yeah cheers, I found a vid of someone refurbing a shock, and it was used to screw a tool onto to compress the internals to remove the circlip holding them in. I think the previous owner may of added the Tyre valve cap thing.
