I thought about an R1 and all its trick electronics but for me I think the blade is a pure bike where you ride it and not have to rely on electronics to save you if you no what I mean, plus my mate has not riden since last October as his new R1 has a recall for a gearbox problem
Its all going electronic mate, even the new blade (2017?) will have them, sorry but they here to stay for the time being I think, looking forward to having a blast on track with it soon, see if i can beat my blade times I also had my geaerbox rebuilt and NO problems here, rides fantastic
Am going to look at that at CMC yamaha day tomorrow....still keeping the Blade but looking at that for a 2nd bike for touring with a bit a grunt
I'll keep my Repsol till the engine goes bang But then I've been young when I swapped cars/bikes every 2 minutes Saying that....I'd still have a mk2 golf gti 16v tomorrow .....or a rsv4 if I won the lottery
Well I had my blade for 4 years and did loads of track days on her but she was a bit long in the tooth (11 years old) so bought new one, I will keep this for several years too as long as I love it I have long gone past the age of buying a new one every year
Each to there own mate, I don't do track days and just want to turn the key put it in gear and ride, not select power modes traction control on off etc etc Still think the blade is easier to ride faster and even though it's down in power it is more usable, even without fancy electronics, which is proved by the wins it has taken at the TT for years and it's a far nicer looking bike than the R1. Just my opinion as I said each to their own
Well I have had both and I don't agree with you pal, R1 has 4 modes that you can flick in a sec, it's ain't rocket science mate lol True you can go into the setting more if you but that's more for track, I pump on, turn the key and go, it's as simple as that oh and don't think your riad bike is anything like a TT winner unless you want to spend thousands more on it But I do agree the blade is pretty, if that's all you want from a bike But yeah I agree, each to their own
I changed from the blade to the BM because I wanted a bike which has ABS that I can rely on. Would swap to an SP blade in a heart beat if Honda binned the C-ABS.
By the sounds of it, the R1 is the first new bike you have ever bought!! Love your comment " I have long gone past the age of buying a new one every year"..............lol Keep on dreaming
Mate your can't comment as your haven't had both, you haven't had the latest Blade you had a 2005 model, a 11 year old blade, therefore you can't compare. May I suggest you go and join the R1 forum as there is no need for you on this forum to be winding up current Blade owners. It is a CBR1000RR forum after all not an R1 forum
What's the problem with the ABS just about to take ownership of a new SP I have read some of the thread that's pinned at the top, but the last post was 2013 is this still not resolved,it's not come up on any of the reviews I have read?
Agree with your comment in the superbike class, but superstock are only allowed minor changes and the blade has won the superstock class loads of times over the years, it's only a debate mate not getting into my bike is better than your bike argument,as I said I nearly bought one myself, but I can't see past Hondas been riding since 1977 with my first bike a Honda C50 and apart from a Yam LC250 and a Suzuki GS 550 I've ridden nothing but Honda.
I'm not sure about it tbh, it didn't look as trick in the flesh as it does in the adverts! They have it as the demo so may have to see if riding it stirs me a bit more. It's certainly a good price for what's it's offering....but just didn't make my heart go bump
Wouldn't change a thing on the Bimota, just love looking at it and the one off workmanship. Wanted one from the time i first started riding and saw a Suzuki GS 1000 Bimota (1979), fifteen years ago was in the position to buy a brand new one and never regretted a moment.
