Hi, I am looking at buying some Ground Anchors and Padlock / Chains. Has anyone got any recommendations on what to buy and where to buy from. Any advice appreciated, Cheers, Ian.
Almax bought my series 4 10 years ago and been great. would recommend them to anyone http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ I have http://www.almax-security-chains.co...s-IV--Uber--Squire-SS65CS-Lock__p-70-129.aspx yes it's expensive but going to last ages.
Also recommend Almax, well worth their price tags. Bought an Almax Immobiliser Series III + Squire SS65CS Stronghold Lock and it's a hefty bit of kit. Not one for taking in a backpack when out and about but probably one of the more harder wearing chains on the market with regards to cropping/cutting etc. Will be getting their ground anchor when the house is complete.
Definitely almax, sleep easy knowing that's attached to bike. Nothing's 100% thief proof but they're gonna make a lot of noise cutting that.
Many thanks for all the replies. I am tempted with this ground anchor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kryptonit...e-Ground-Anchor-Universal-Black-/391447754954 Would it work with an Almax chain? Thanks, Ian.
6mm shackle on that ground anchor, compared to the 13mm on the almax chain that would be a definite weak point. Maybe suitable for a push bike but I'd go for something bit more substantial.
Almax all day long. Everything else is inferior. I have 2 of their chains and the Ground Anchor, the Red one in the below Pic and the Blue one which is seen loose below but is usually wrapped around the Track Bike Wheel too, but in this Pic it was still in the back of the Van.
Thanks for all the advice - I think I will go for the Almax one. What is the best way of securing a bike with a chain / ground anchor? i.e. front wheel, back wheel or whatever? Just wondering which length chain I need.
Ideally thru the frame but nearly impossible unless you use a thin chain, which kinda defeats the purpose. Front or rear, there is a possibility they could remove the wheel but scroats don't usually carry a full toolkit, and they couldn't then push the bike away. Put ground anchor inbetween bike and wall so its harder for them to attack.
Thanks. Just looking at all the options. Has anyone got any thoughts on Pragmasis? How do they compare with Almax? The Ground Anchors look good. http://securityforbikes.com/products.php?cat=Ground+Anchor,+Chain+and+Lock+Deals Cheers, Ian.
Another vote for Almax. Give them a call and you'll get a deal on the chain, lock & anchor combo. Plus nice guy to deal with and he'll chat to you forever about bike security.
